Dell today announced the availability of three flagship monitors with PremierColor technology. The 30-inch Dell UltraSharp 3014 ($1499) boasts the company’s largest screen size to date, with 2560x1600-pixel resolution and multiple connectivity options. The Dell UltraSharp U2713H ($999, pictured) 27-inch and U2413 (£499/$599) 24-inch monitors each come with a 14-bit Look-Up Table (LUT) and a 12-bit processor. Calibrated at the factory to support 99% AdobeRGB and 100% sRGB coverage with a deltaE of less than 2; each monitor arrives with a certified report to indicate its exact colour calibration. The U2713H has a native resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, whereas the U2413 comes with a 1920x1200-pixel panel. The Dell UltraSharp 3014 is “coming soon,” while both the U2713H and the U2413 are available now.
StyleShoots is an iPad controlled all-in-one photo studio that shoots, cuts out and exports product images in thirty seconds. The iPad displays a live view of what you lay on the table section of StyleShoots. When you are happy with how the products are styled on the table, you simply press the button and let the integrated system do the rest. The Museum of the City of New York (MCNY) has issued a call for submissions of photographs portraying Superstorm Sandy’s impact on the region. The museum invites both novice and professional photographers to submit images depicting the stages of preparation, destruction and rebuilding for a juried exhibition that will open in April, to coincide with the six-month anniversary of the storm. Consideration will particularly be paid to before and after images of the same subject, highlighting the dramatic effect of the storm. The deadline for entries is 11:59pm, 3 March 2013. The Jessops.com website, which went down after the UK’s biggest high-street camera retailer had gone into administration last month, now displays a note saying, “The new Jessops website will be launching soon!!” According to administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers International (PwC), the Jessops brand has been sold to “a number of buyers including entrepreneur Peter Jones” of Dragons’ Den fame. The Jessops Photo website is already up and running again, selling photo books, prints, calendars and other personalised gifts made by Cewe Color. Meanwhile the main site, Jessops.com, is now prompting visitors to sign up for relaunch updates.
Canon has issued a product advisory for the £10,000 / $15,000 Canon EOS-1D C “Cinema EOS Camera.”. The company is going to offer a free service upgrade enabling owners to opt for a frame rate of 25fps (in addition to the existing 24fps) at the camera’s maximum 4K Ultra HD video resolution. The exact availability of the service upgrade will be announced in April 2013.

Nikon has posted an update to Capture NX. Version 2.4.0 adds support for raw files created by the Nikon 1 J3 (pictured) and Nikon 1 S1 compact system cameras, incorporates a couple of modifications to White Balance in the Camera Settings portion of the Develop section in the Edit List palette, and fixes a bug related to JPEG image display. The Windows variant of the software additionally gains compatibility with 64- and 32-bit Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, and Windows 8 Enterprise (though without touchscreen support), whereas the MacOS edition adds support for high-res Retina displays. Samsung Electronics America today launched the first two models in its “Smart Camera 2.0” line-up. The Samsung WB250F long-zoom model (MSRP: $249.99) and DV150F DualView camera ($149.99) – which both offer Wi-Fi connectivity for photo sharing, backup and a range of other features – are available now at retailers across the U.S.A. Announced at CES, the “Smart Camera 2.0” range is aimed at smartphone users yearning for better imaging performance. As the flagship model of the WB long zoom line-up, the 14.2-megapixel WB250F comes with 18x optical zoom, a hybrid interface and a BSI CMOS sensor; while the DV150F combines Samsung’s unique DualView technology in the form of a 1.48” front LCD screen for easy self-portrait taking, with a 16.2 Megapixel CCD sensor, 5x optical zoom with an f:2.5, 25mm bright lens.
RCP-Technik has launched the Rollei iSY and iSY Wi-Fi photo printers that allow users to print their photographs directly from a smartphone, tablet or PictBridge compliant digital camera. Both models are dye-sublimation printers that can output prints of up to 10x15cm (4"x6”) from regular photos and up to 10x45cm (4"x18”) from panoramic images, at a resolution of 300dpi. The Rollei iSY Photo Printer will go on sale from mid-February for a recommended retail price of €159.95. The WiFi version will be available for €179.95. Each printer comes with a Rollei iSY 36 cartridge. Replacement cartridges - sufficient for 36 borderless prints in 10x15cm format - are priced at €13.99 each.
