Fujifilm have updated their X mount lens roadmap for 2014 and early 2015.
1. A high speed wide angle prime lens (Focal length and Aperture TBC)
2. A bright XF50-140mmF2.8 R OIS tele-photo zoom
3. A bright XF16-55mmF2.8 R OIS standard zoom lens
4. A super telephoto zoom lens (Focal length and Aperture TBC)
5. A high magnification XF18-135mmF3.5-5.6 R OIS zoom lens
The Fujifilm X100S is now available in all-black, as well as last year's silver version. The new X100S Black is particularly suited to street photography, being very discreet and blending in with its surroundings. The following X100S accessories are now also available in black to coordinate - wide conversion lens, lens hood, adapter ring for the filter, and a leather case. The Fujifilm X100S Black costs £999.99 in the UK and will be available from January 2014.
The Fujifilm XF 56mm F1.2 R is a new fast portrait lens for X-series cameras. It features a fast maximum aperture of f/1.2, a focal length of 85mm and delivers beautiful bokeh, making it particularly suitable for high quality portraits. The Fujifilm XF 56mm F1.2 R will be on sale from February 2014 for £999.99.
The Fujifilm FinePix S1 is the world’s first weather-resistant bridge camera. The Fujifilm S1 offers everything you could want from a bridge camera, including a powerful 50x image-stabilised optical zoom lens, wireless communication, Full HD movie function - all wrapped in a robust dust and water-resistant body. The Fujifilm FinePix S1 will be on sale from January 2014 for £399.99.
The Fujifilm FinePix S9400W and S9200 bridge cameras both feature a powerful 50x optical zoom lens. Further stand-out features on the two cameras include a new image stabilisation system for movie recording, Full HD video capture and a selection of creative filter effects. The S9400W also offers Wi-Fi connectivity. The Fujifilm FinePix S9400W and S9200 will be on sale from January 2014 for £269.99 and £249.99 respectively.
The Fujifilm FinePix S8600 is a small and powerful superzoom camera. The Fujifilm S8600 bridge camera featues a powerful 36x Fujinon zoom lens, a high-quality 1/2.3in 16MP CCD sensor, and a host of creative features, all wrapped up in a pocket-friendly body. The Fujifilm FinePix S8600 will be on sale from February 2014 for £149.99.
The Fujifilm FinePix XP70 is a new all-weather digital compact camera. The 16.4 megapixel waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof and dustproof Fujifilm XP70 features wireless connectivity for simple sharing with a smartphone or tablet along with a host of powerful picture taking features. The Fujifilm FinePix XP70 will be on sale from February 2014 for £169.99.
The Fujifilm 2014 Student Awards are now open for entries. Once again, the Award is a collaboration between Fujifilm Professional, Metroprint, the online arm of Metro Imaging and ChooseFilm, the online community dedicated to film photography. In addition to being named Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year 2013 the winner will also be presented with £200 worth of film from Fujifilm, a professionally produced folio of prints and a one-to-one printing/consultancy session with one of Metroprint's top printers. There is an open brief for 2014, a move organisers hope will lead to a surge of creative submissions. The closing date for submissions is 31st March.
Edition Three of Hasselblad's VICTOR Photography Book is now available for purchase. As with the previous two editions the line-up of photographers being featured is awesome: David Lynch, Matthias Koslik, Andy Rudak, Bernhard Edmaier, Alisha Goldstein, Laurent Segretier, Timothy Hogan, Derek Kendall, Klaus Thymann, John Robert Rowland, Morgan Fisher and Brad Harris. While the format remains the same this time round the mix of text and images has changed a little, with even more emphasis now being placed on the visuals. The Samsung NX30 is a new APS-C compact system camera. The traditionally-styled NX30 features a 20.3MP APS-C CMOS sensor, tiltable electronic viewfinder (XGA, 2,359K-dot resolution), 3.0-inch Super AMOLED swivel and touch display, 1/8000 sec shutter speed, 9fps continuous shooting, and NFC and Wi-Fi capabilities. The price and availability of the Samsung NX30 are still to be announced.
Samsung have also unveiled two new lenses, the premium ‘S’ Series 16-50mm F2-2.8 S ED OIS lens, and the more consumer 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 Power Zoom ED OIS.
The Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 is a new version of last year's Galaxy Camera hybrid camera / smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Camera 2's upgrades include a faster 1.6GHz Quad Core processor, 2.0 GB of RAM, enhanced battery life, Android 4.3 and NFC connectivity. The price and availability of the Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 are still to be announced.

Apple has released a new Digital Camera Raw compatibility update. Version 5.02 adds support for the following cameras: Nikon D5300, Nikon Df, Olympus OM-D E-M1 (pictured), Sony Alpha 7 and Alpha 7R.

Fuji has issued a firmware update for the Fujifilm X-Pro1 compact system camera. Version 3.10, which was announced last month, brings a number of improvements and enhancements, including improved accuracy and coverage of the bright frame in the optical viewfinder, a new file name editing function, more consistent file numbering for photos taken in continuous shooting mode, and improved in-camera raw conversion. Additionally, you will be able to see the exposure setting in live-view, adjust the aperture / shutter speed while maintaining the exposure value while AE lock is selected, and set the default and maximum sensitivity and minimum shutter speed when selecting AUTO in the ISO setting. This new firmware update for the Fujifilm X-Pro1 can now be downloaded from the website below.
Announced in November, the new firmware updates for the Fujifilm X100S, X-E1 (pictured) and X-E2 are now available for download. The updates add new functionality allowing you to edit image filenames and improvements to in-camera raw file conversion, In addition, the X-E1 and X100S will benefit from a number of enhancements already incorporated into the X-E2, such as the ability to see the exposure setting in Live View, the cpability to change the aperture and shutter speed while maintaining exposure (EV value) with the AE lock button, and more consistent file numbering for photos taken in continuous shooting mode. In the X-E1, the maximum sensitivity and minimum shutter speed can now be set when ISO AUTO is selected. Ricoh has posted a firmware update for the Pentax K-3 digital SLR camera. According to the company, version 1.01 incorporates the following improvements:
- Faster HDR exposure blending
- Improved continuous shooting when using phase-detect autofocus.
- Extended enlarged display time for live view.
- Improved stability for general performance.
