BosStrap has just released a new product called the BosStrap Side Slide. Featuring a 1"-wide shoulder strap which hangs vertically off your right or your left shoulder, the BosStrap Side Slide connects to a camera strap lug rather than the tripod socket;t and includes a fully detachable, across-the-chest strap which prevents it from moving off your shoulder. By adding a second Side Slide, two cameras can be worn, one on each shoulder, or the Side Slide can be worn while using a conventional neck strap for carrying a second camera. AOC has announced a new UltraWide QHD screen in 21:9 format. The AOC u3477Pqu is a 34" monitor with a 3440x1440-pixel IPS panel and various connectivity options including USB 2.0 and 3.0, DisplayPort and an integrated HDMI port with MHL functionality. Thanks to the Real 8-bit +FRC arrangement, more than 1 billion colours can be reproduced on the screen. Equally noteworthy are the picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture features, which allow watching images simultaneously from different sources.. The model will be available as of September 2014 at an MSRP of 499 GBP.

The tripod features four leg sections for maximum compactness and a 75/60mm half bowl for quick levelling. PocketWizard today announced that its venerable MultiMAX radio transceiver is being retired with immediate effect. The PocketWizard Plus lll radio carries on the primary features of the MultiMAX, like 32 channels, Quad-Zone Triggering, Long Range Mode, and Auto-Relay and is fully compatible with the MultiMAX and the entire PocketWizard line, the company says. PocketWizard will honour warranties and perform customer repairs for the "next few years." If warranty repairs are unable to be performed due to parts depletion, the company will make "reasonable efforts" to help photographers maintain PocketWizard compatibility by offering an alternative product at a "special value." MultiMAX specific accessories like PW-CC (Confirmation Cable) and PW-AC-MX (AC Adapter for older 6-pin radios) will no longer be produced, but may still be available at retailers.
The new MIOPS is a smartphone-controlled high-speed camera trigger developed by the same people who invented the Nero Trigger. Financed through a Kickstarter campaign, MIOPS delivers all of the features required for high-speed photography in a single unit and provides advanced features via a total integration with popular smartphone platforms. "MIOPS is not the first trigger in the market, but it is going to be the best one," the inventors claim. " You can control MIOPS with your smart-phone over Bluetooth. You can adjust the settings using dedicated smartphone application and send them to MIOPS with a simple click on your phone.You can either use MIOPS for basic functions like high-speed and lightning photography, but you can also let [it] perform complex scenarios like combining different modes in the same setup."

Phottix has released the Sony/Minolta version of its Mitros+ TTL flash, which features built-in radio triggering and power control functions. Unlike optical or infrared flash syncing solutions, radio triggering does not require direct line of sight and tends to work well indoors and out, at night and in broad daylight, over relatively long distances. The Mitros+ offers all of these triggering modes plus a 3.5mm sync port. As to basic flash functionality, the PhottixMitros+ has a guide number of 58 (in metres), high-speed and second-curtain synchronisation modes, a zoomable tilt-swivel flash head with 24-105mm coverage (14mm with a wide-angle diffuser), an AF assist light and a quick flash mode. Three sets of flash and function information can be saved in the Mitros+’s memory and be quickly recalled when needed. The Mitros+ TTL Transceiver Flash for Sony will start to ship to Phottix retailers this week.

Oncore Designs have unveiled a new line of innovative lens hoods that work with the GoPro Hero3 and GoPro Hero 3+. Made with ABS plastic, the Eclipse Lens Hood is designed to fit securely over the lens of the GoPro Hero 3/3+ in medium and narrow settings. The range currently comprises two models: the Eclipse Lens Hood 1 (ELH1, $24.99) and the Eclipse Lens Hood 3+H (ELH3+H, $30.00). The ELH1 is designed to place directly onto the GoPro Hero 3 or 3+ lenses without a housing case. Switronix has announced newr power solutions for the Panasonic GH4 compact system camera. Delivering 6 times more power than the battery supplied with the camera, the Switronix PB70-GH4 PowerBase-70 Battery Pack is a 77Wh, 14.8V Lithium-ion battery designed to extend HD recording time for the GH4. The PowerBase-70 mounts under the camera and doubles as a grip, or can be attached to a camera support via its 1/4"-20 release plate or V-mount. Wired as a 14.8V battery pack, it can provide extended power for up to two additional 12VDC devices such as lights, monitors or HD converters as well as other devices requiring lower voltage. Luxi For All is a diffusion dome attachment for your mobile device's front-facing camera which, when paired with the Luxi app, helps you determine the best settings for your SLR or other "serious" camera. Essentially turning your smartphone/tablet into an incident light meter, Luxi For All is now in the midst of a successful Kickstarter campaign, with nearly $50,000 pledged by nearly 2,000 backers.. It comes ready for use with any iOS device, when paired with any of several free software applications. An Android application is in development, and will be available before Luxi For All ships in August.
Epson today announced that its Ultimicron electronic viewfinder technology is incorporated in the new Leica Visoflex electronic viewfinder for the Leica T compact system camera. The newest, Visoflex is an optional high-resolution electronic viewfinder that boasts XGA (1024 x RGB x 768), 2.36 million dot resolution. The use of a color filter prevents the colour break-up that can occur with other colour systems when shooting fast-moving subjects and while panning. First launched in 2009, Ultimicron is based on the HTPS technology that ensures sufficient visibility in any environment, Epson claims.
The Yongnuo YN300W is a hybrid 300Ws studio strobe / system flash boasting full support for Canon's wireless E-TTL exposure control system. Key features include a built-in modelling light with an E27 type 150W light-bulb, a rear-mounted LCD control panel, a cooling fan, rear-curtain sync and an array of sync options including a PC terminal, a photoresistor with E-TTL support and, unusually for a mains flash, a hotshoe-foot that accepts TTL radio trigger receivers. Recycle times range from 0.1s to 1.1s, while manual power settings go from 1/1 all the way down to 1/128th. Flash duration can be anywhere between 1/50,000s to 1/800s depending on the chosen power setting (we assume these are t0.5 times). The guide number is 56 (in metres at ISO 100/21°, with no light modifiers attached). There is no word on pricing yet and it is currently unclear if a Nikon version will ever be available to purchase.

Eye-Fi has announced that its Eye-Fi Connected functionality is now compatible with over 300 more digital camera models. Eye-Fi Connected firmware is embedded into a camera to enable it to instantly detect when an Eye-Fi SD card is inserted. This functionality allows the photographer to control the wireless features using the in-camera menu options to seamlessly transfer pictures to their smartphone, tablet or PC, wirelessly. Eye-Fi Connected cameras also include features such as the ability to power toggle the Wi-Fi radio, select when photos transfer and advanced power management to maximise battery life. Eye-Fi Connected has been adopted by virtually every digital camera manufacturer, including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, Casio, Ricoh, Pentax, JVC, Olympus and Panasonic.
MMD, a leading technology company and brand licence partner for Philips Monitors, have unveiled the innovations they plan to showcase at IFA 2014 in Berlin. These include the brand-new SoftBlue light display with anti-blue light technology - which eliminates emissions of blue light at harmful wavelengths, helping to mitigate the negative impact on eyes and improve well-being, but without compromising colour and image quality - and G-SYNC at 144 Hz, a new 21:9 Panoramic Ultra Wide Screen which delivers a resolution of 3440x1440 pixels, a new 27-inch display with Adobe RGB colur space coverage, as well as a range of Smart All-in-One touch displays.
