AKVIS Draw 2.0

AKVIS ha released AKVIS Draw V.2.0, an application which converts photos into pencil sketches and line art pictures. This update adds real-time effects previews to the 64 bit version, expands raw image file support, adds the Pencil tool to the After tab, improves upon the Text tab, adds a 'Show Original' option to the tools' parameters, fixes minor bugs, adds Dropbox to the list of the publishing services and official support for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. All registered users of AKVIS Draw can upgrade to the new version for free.

DxO OpticsPro 10.2, FilmPack 5.1 and ViewPoint 2.5.2

DxO has released DxO OpticsPro v10.2, DxO FilmPack v5.1 and DxO ViewPoint v2.5.2. The updates add support for the Sony A7 II, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100, the Pentax K-S1, and the Samsung Galaxy S5. The DxO Optics Modules database benefits form the addition of 291 new camera/lens combinations. DxO OpticsPro v10.2, DxO FilmPack v5.1 and DxO ViewPoint v2.5.2 are now available in the DxO online store.

ReaSoft Updates reaConverter 7 for Windows

ReaSoft has updated its reaConverter 7 batch image conversion and editing program, adding the Watch Folders feature which facilitates easy automation of most image conversion tasks. The new feature says just what it says on the tin - it monitors folders containing images for new or modified files and instantly applies predefined actions to them. Working invisibly in the background, reaConverter´s Watch Folders feature allows a user to resize, crop, adjust brightness and colours, add watermarks and otherwise alter images of 400+ supported formats found in the user-specified Windows folder. reaConverter 7 is available for Windows XP through Windows 8 in three edititons; Lite (Free), Standard ($49.99) and Pro ($99.99).

Athetech Perfectly Clear 4 for Android and iOS

Athentech today launched Version 4 of their Perfectly Clear App for Android and iOS. Both apps include Next Generation Beautify with new algorithms that automatically detect gender, age, and facial features to apply "just the right amount of correction." The new versions boast five additional features: Blemish Removal, Face Slimming, Eye Circle Removal, Shine Removal and Catchlight. Plus, the iOS edition also gains some of the features that have been available for Android for some time, such as a new noise removal algorithm, multi-image selection for batch photo corrections, and the ability to zoom into the full-resolution photo so you can view your results at 100%. Adobe to Release Lightroom 6 for 64-bit Operating Systems Only

Adobe has announced that Lightroom 6 will require Mac OS X 10.8 or above, or a 64 bit version of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. "If you are on Mac OS X 10.7, or a 32 bit version of Windows, you will continue to be able to install and run Lightroom 5 and use Lightroom mobile," the company said in a statement. "However, you will not be able to install Lightroom 6 until you upgrade to a supported operating system."

Lightroom Mobile for Android Phones

Adobe today released Lightroom mobile for Android phones. Lightroom mobile is a companion app to Lightroom 5 desktop software, available as part of Adobe Creative Cloud. First released for iPad and iPhone, Lightroom mobile allows you to utilise your Android phone to review and edit your images and have the changes sync back to your Lightroom catalogue at home. Lightroom mobile for Android requires a device equipped with a quad-core CPU with 1.7 GHZ ARMv7 architecture, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage and Android Jellybean, KitKat, or Lollipop. Do note that it may take up to 24 hours for Lightroom mobile to be available in your local Google Play app store.

Canon has released an updated version of its Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software. DPP 4.1.50 adds support for the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV, EOS 70D, EOS 7D Mark II (pictured), EOS 7D, EOS 5D Mark II, EOS 700D and EOS 100D dSLR cameras and the recently launched EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM and EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM lenses. Topaz Glow

Topaz Labs have released Topaz Glow, a new program that uses state-of-the-art image processing techniques to produce illuminating light effects. “We took an extra step to push forward the processing technology in Glow to make it much faster with GPU acceleration, speeding up your creativity and empowering your imagination,” said Dr. Yang Yang, the research scientist who led the product development of Glow. “By developing a unique proprietary algorithm that extracts hidden light in an image, Glow gives the user freedom to produce both subtle and dramatic looks.” Glow works as a standalone editor as well as a plugin for Photoshop CS4+, Photoshop Elements 6+, Photoshop Creative Cloud and as an external editor for Lightroom. It is compatible with 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8 and Mac OS X 10.8 and up. Though the standard retail price of Glow is $69.99, it is available at a special reduced price of $49.99 until the end of this year.

The program is now compatible with Lightroom and other third-party software’s star ranking systems, has improved the speed at which it displays its visual presets in Windows, and has enriched its DxO FilmPack and DxO ViewPoint plugins. This update also allows DxO OpticsPro 10 to support the Canon EOS 7D Mark II and PowerShot G7 X (pictured), the GoPro HERO4 Black Edition, the Panasonic Lumix DMC- ZS40, and the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
