  1. Ok, but what type of files does it support?
Just jpgs? Or any kind of file (read raw files)?

Thierry Leveque at 05:52pm on Tuesday, September 02, 2008

  2. I had the same question but found nothing on the atpinc site. If it doesn't support CR2, DNG or other camera-generated files, then it's not something many photographers are going to bother with.

Atomische at 07:53pm on Tuesday, September 02, 2008

  3. The ATP GPS PhotoFinder mini only supports JPEGs.

Mark Goldstein at 07:44am on Wednesday, September 03, 2008

  4. "ATP’s GPS PhotoFinder mini is compatible with JPEG images from digital cameras of major brands"

ROFL. Yes I guess, each manufacturer got different "proprietary JPEG formats" that they may not support. Sounds like a good excuse for saying when the gadget fails with some camera's jpegs =)))

The JPEG Group at 04:49pm on Wednesday, September 03, 2008

  5. So this thing is completely useless for any serious photographer!
If they want to sell it, they need to support all the raw formats that support coordinate exif data.

Thierry Leveque at 04:54pm on Wednesday, September 03, 2008

  6. Useless it is, indeed. Surprising, if you keep in mind that they produce some of the finest memory cards...

Rob at 09:49pm on Wednesday, September 03, 2008

  7. Sorry! As I know most online map platform, like Google earth, Locr or others they only support to read and upload the JPG format. So I don't think the RAW format support can bring benefits. And if we want to use the photo navigation function on our mobile phone, the RAW file is too big to use. Right? So I think the geotagging device is for general market users, for serious users they should prefer the Nikon's GPS accessory. But how many people will buy Nikon ? I have no idea ~~~
