Canon EOS 50D Review
Announced just one year after the 40D, the new EOS 50D is Canon’s latest semi-pro DSLR camera. With a price-tag just over £1200 / $1399 body only, the Canon 50D is firmly aimed at the prosumer, who will use it as their main camera, and the pro photographer looking for a reliable and relatively inexpensive backup body. The main headline-grabbing feature is the 15.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, which makes the 50D the market-leading APS-C camera in terms of megapixel count. Canon have also massively expanded the ISO range, with a top speed of 12800 matching the more expensive Nikon D700 / D3 cameras, while the new Digic 4 processor promises to maintain the usual high image quality that we’ve come to expect from a Canon DSLR. A high-resolution VGA LCD screen, new Live View mode with Face Detection, HDMI connectivity and a number of user interface refinements complete the list of major improvements. Is the Canon EOS 50D a worthy upgrade to the 40D and a real competitor to its closest rival, the Nikon D300? Mark Goldstein found out…

In regards to image sharpness, you mentioned can change the in-camera sharpening level. How do you do that? Are you referring to the lens micro adjust feature?

Lon, you can adjust the sharpening level for JPEGs through the Picture Styles menu.

Some sections of the review refer to the 50D as 1000D, copy/paste errors?

If you're not willing to spend a small fortune on a digital SLR, I would pick up a rebel XS (10 megapixel) or XSi (12 megapixel). Both have gotten fantastic user reviews and can now be had for $530 and $600 respectively -- http://www.techdealdigger.com/hot-deals/digital-cameras-sale/62 . I don't know how long these deals will last, but they are pretty phenomenal prices.

Everybody that has used this camera says that it gives lower picture quality than 40D.
I have read several of your copmarisons and reviews and my verdict is that you are either an advertiser for Canon becasue of financial reasons or an advertiser of Canaon becasue you just can't make a fair job of things.
I am a Canon guy myself, but still I prefer a fair and honest review.
