Canon Powershot A590 IS Review
The Canon Powershot A590 IS compact digicam is the big brother of the A580 model that we reviewed last month. It features exactly the same 4x optical zoom lens, Motion Detection Technology with High ISO Auto, 2.5 inch LCD screen and an optical viewfinder, but adds image stabilisation and full manual control over exposure into the mix. Available for around $150 / £120, is the 8 megapixel Canon A590 IS worth paying a little bit extra for? Gavin Stoker found out…

I think this camera reproduces nice colors. The pictures on the carousel are very impressive. Nice greens and overall nice balanced color tones.

It is amazing the difference in price when two products are almost identical. I'm glad to read the reviews on this site, otherwise I wouldn't have a clue what I am buying. Thank you very much.

Hey, how can I put in my email which you require when is already in the space?????
mine is
Thanks for such a thorough review and spec. readout. The best I have seen.
No where else could I find the 15 second shutter speed which is important to me since I will be doing night shots.
It would be nice to see a comparison by the same reviewer between Nikon P60 and Canon A590. That would be very, very useful to someone like me who is attempting to make an informed buy decision.
"Noticeable graininess or noise above ISO 400" is so darned subjective as to be an absolutely useless and maddeningly frustrating comment for the reader to try to deal with, unless there is a comparison to a standard or another digital camera.
So, please, please, please compare the 2 models if you can.
