Despite being considered essential tools by many professional photographers, the Kodak R-27 Card and Q13 and Q14 Greyscale Guides have been officially discontinued, with no direct replacements from Kodak. Keen to ensure continued consumer choice, Colour Confidence has sourced alternatives to all three products.

Using any piece of white or grey card will not do; just try comparing two different sheets of ‘white’ paper and you will see why. The Colour Confidence Grey Balance Board (£11/€18) replaces the R-27 Grey Card. This twin pack includes reversible cards for grey and white balancing, suitable for pre- and post-capture colour correction. The Small Greyscale and Colour Separation Guide (£11/€18) and Large Greyscale and Colour Separation Guide (£15/€23) replace the Kodak Q13 and Q14 cards respectively. Each guide features a twenty-step greyscale and eighteen colour patches (two saturations of nine colours). Users can compare tonal values in an original image with its reproduction, and check colours within a subject against known printing colours.
