Create Your Own Photo Blog

Create Your Own Photo BlogWiley Press Release

Photo blogs are the fastest-growing form of personal publishing on the Internet.  Whether the goal is to create an online photo diary, showcase a professional portfolio, or just share with family across the continent the pictures from the reunion, a photo blog can accomplish this.  No one understands this phenomenon better than professional photographer and award - winning blogger Catherine Jamieson.  Her new book, Create Your Own Photo Blog (Wiley; April 2006; $24.99), is a richly illustrated, full-color guide to planning and designing a photo blog.  Legions of fans visit Jamieson’s blog, Utata, every day in order to view the latest of her photographic creations.  In her book, she imparts her knowledge and expertise and shows readers how they, too, can share their photos through blogging.

CREATE YOUR OWN PHOTO BLOG walks readers through setting up their blog and offers photo ideas to help jumpstart creativity and get would-be bloggers shooting.  It also covers:

• Deciding on the purpose of your photo blog
• Designing a blog using the Movable Type publishing platform
• Learning to shoot, edit, and select photos that work best on the Web
• Using flicker.com to showcase photos
• Enhancing a blog to attract high volumes of traffic
• Promoting the blog, networking with other photo bloggers, and syndicating content
• Improving photographic skills with professional tricks and techniques
• Exploring and learning from some of the Web’s top-rated photo blogs

The companion Web site, http://www.createyourownphotoblog.com provides a library of professionally designed, easily customizable templates and links to all of the photo blogs mentioned in the book.

Photos are meant to be shared.  With the help of CREATE YOUR OWN PHOTO BLOG, anyone can tap their inner muse and share their creativity with the world.
