DIWA Gold Award for Olympus E-3

DIWA Gold Award for Olympus E-3The Olympus E-3 DSLR camera has won a coveted DIWA Gold Award. Kai Thon, DIWA’s test manager commented: “The long overdue E-3 was well worth the wait. Olympus enthusiasts can finally make use of their highly admired Zuiko Digital lenses on a top specified body with professional capabilities. The E-3 and its compact E-System handles and performs like a pro, making it an exciting alternative for photographers who wish to travel light.” The Digital Imaging Websites Association (DIWA) is a fast growing group of independent Web-based specialist publications dedicated to digital imaging.

DIWA Press Release

Olympus E-3 professional DSLR camera receives a DIWA Gold Award

The year 2007 was a big step ahead for Olympus, strongly establishing the Four Thirds system and bringing the E-3 on the market as a highly upgraded successor to the legendary E-1. The E-3’s unique technological advances are found in four key areas: Speed, Live View, image quality and versatility, making it a worthy winner of a DIWA Gold Award.

Amsterdam, 3rd March / April 2008, DIWA (Digital Imaging Websites Association), a world-wide organisation of collaborating websites, today announces a DIWA Gold Award to the Olympus E-3 professional digital single-lens-reflex (DSLR) camera for its excellent technological advances and high performance.

The Olympus E-system has been a different approach to digital SLR photography since its launch four years ago. The E-3 expands the system’s uniqueness by adding super-fast Supersonic Wave Drive auto focus, Live View technology combined with a flexible LCD screen and built-in image stabilizer. The compact, robust and weatherproof body and lens construction make the Olympus E-3 a reliable camera, meeting the requirements of most professional photographers.

The improvements of the Olympus E-3 in comparison to its predecessor the E-1 are numerous, such as the world’s fastest auto focus (with SWD lenses), Live View in combination with a vari-angle monitor, 10 MP image resolution and a built-in sensor shift image stabilizer. Excellent handling and ergonomics, high image quality and compatibility to the outstanding range of powerful, yet compact range of Zuiko Digital lenses, have been highly appreciated in numerous DIWA tests, qualifying the Olympus E-3 for a DIWA Gold Award. With the addition of this new flagship, Olympus are well on their way to firmly establish and advance their FourThirds system camera line-up on the DSLR market, presently topped by the professional E-3.

Kai Thon, DIWA’s test manager says: “The long overdue E-3 was well worth the wait. Olympus enthusiasts can finally make use of their highly admired Zuiko Digital lenses on a top specified body with professional capabilities. The E-3 and its compact E-System handles and performs like a pro, making it an exciting alternative for photographers who wish to travel light.”
