Gerd Ludwig Interview
The murder of Alexander Litvinenko in London has splashed Russia across the papers and lead British detectives back to the ex-KGB agent’s homeland for answers. It has also placed President Putin and his government under a rather large international spotlight. Amid all the intrigue and unanswered questions, what has become increasingly clear is that Russia is not a place to be outspoken. It is a country, still adapting to the rapid change of political systems and the people that have instigated the transformation. But what really lies behind the headlines and now defunct iron curtain? It is a question that German photographer Gerd Ludwig has been searching to answer in his work for over thirty years.

My comment is a question. Why was it "controversial" for him to switch from Nikon to Canon?

Ted, I read this as a transition from film to digital, not as a meaning of comparison. Probably he found out that at a paricular time when the transition was necessary, Canon was providing exactly the quality he needed.
"Controversial" in that many pros will stay with both film and digital, and I understand that, from the read, there was a complete divorce ( Wine cooler comment)
IMHO

So many years in Russia and he still does not make difference between Russia and Soviet Union. He speaks about all post USSR teritories as of Russia. Very big mistake. Chernobyl isn't Russian tragedy. It's Ukrainian and Belarussian tragedy.

I too can't see why it's controversial to switch from Nikon to Canon.
