Cameras look so stylish now and the latest range from Samsung which are available in various colours make them ideal fashion accessories for today’s fashion conscious women.” The survey was carried out on 1766 UK adults throughout November 2007.

Samsung Cameras Press Release

Gadgets are a girl’s best friend

Girls are leading the digital revolution this Christmas - research from Samsung Cameras reveals more women are buying gadgets this Christmas than men. The research, commissioned to look into the use and purchase of Christmas gadgets, revealed women are increasingly addicted to technology – and now own more gadgets than men.

Hannah Perry, News Editor of Heat magazine commented on the research; “Gadgets are no longer the preserve of the tech hungry male – we see women embracing technology all of the time without fear of them compromising on style or beauty.  Cameras look so stylish now and the latest range from Samsung which are available in various colours make them ideal fashion accessories for today’s fashion conscious women.”

The research also showed that charades and dusty board games are no longer the draw they once were, six out of ten families (58%) said looking through pictures of friends and family was THE number one Christmas family activity.

And, when it comes to preserving memories of festive fun, the Welsh are leading the charge - one in five take their camera everywhere they go.  People in the East of England are more likely to miss out, with fewer than one in ten (7%) remembering to take their camera with them

Style and Sophistication
Some differences between the sexes still apply though. According to the research Girls appreciate more the beauty of products and the newest of features and smart devices in gadgets whenever possible. Features like Samsung’s face recognition technology and smart-touch interfaces are likely to score highly with females when making a camera purchase this Christmas and in the New Year.

Key findings
37% of women will be buying gadgets this Christmas, compared to 35% of men
95% of women believe that gadgets are no longer just toys for boys
38% of women own games consoles compared to 31% of men

Survey carried out on 1766 UK adults throughout November 2007
