PORTLAND, OR (January 2008) – LaCie today announced its new 24-inch LaCie 324 LCD Monitor targeting the needs of creative professionals. Equipped with an industry-leading S-PVA panel, which offers superb colors thanks to its wide 92 percent NTSC gamut, the new LaCie 324 also embeds a 10-bit gamma correction mechanism that minimizes banding and ensures color gradients are smoothly rendered. With its 16:10 wide-screen format, this monitor can showcase two letter-size (A4) pages side by side with additional room for palettes and toolbars.
The LaCie 324 supports high definition video up to, and including, 1080p sources. And with its embedded Faroudja DCDi and TrueLife™ video technologies, video content appears at its best.
The monitor embeds noise removal and adaptive contrast features that further enhance moving images. The LaCie 324 accepts four simultaneously connected computers or video sources through its VGA, DVI and two HDMI ports, and supports HDCP for Blu-Ray and HD DVD compatibility. Two of these sources can be simultaneously viewed in picture-in-picture mode.
“The LaCie 324’s feature set broadly addresses the needs of creative pros dealing both with fixed-images, as in graphic design, photography and publishing as well as with motion pictures, as in post-production and game development”, said Daniel Mayer, LaCie’s Color Business Unit Manager.
The LaCie 324 is available in bundle with LaCie blue eye pro, LaCie’s professional, single-click hardware calibration solution that is faster, more precise, and much more convenient for the user than traditional manual calibration methods. LaCie blue eye pro also offers an extensive set of tools that includes manual fine-tuning of the white point, test and report to verify profile accuracy, and profile switching without the need to recalibrate. The bundle also includes LaCie’s easyHood, a one-piece monitor hood with anti-reflective black velvet lining intended to reduce glare in brightly lit work environments.
To further enhance the workspace, the monitor features a touch sensitive control panel and has both a built-in three-port USB 2.0 hub and a speaker/headphone port, thus allowing the user to conveniently connect most peripherals directly to their display.

I'm a photographer and I'm really interested in purchasing this monitor. I have two questions.
a) Does this monitor calibrate well using a Datacolor Spyder3 Pro?
b) Is the stand height adjustable?
Please let me know.
Thanks

I just saw the LaCie 324 at MicroCenter and in answer to your question it should be compatible to the Spyder3 (but NOT the Spyder2, by the way) -- however I did not get whether the Spyder 3 has access to the 10-bit gamma LUT in the monitor itself.
As for height adjustability -- yes. However, the stand in my view is the weak part of the monitor. It is not nearly as height adjustable as the NEC LCD2490WUXi, which is to say it does not go as high as the NEC. I'd guess about three to four inches of vertical adjustment.
Viewing angle is great -- by far the best I've ever seen on a PVA display. Definitely competitive with IPS. Also a far more responsive display in terms of input lat than, say, the iMac's built in displays. I saw it hooked up to an iMac in monitor spanning mode and dragging windows around the iMac was jerky; moving them across to the LaCie everything was totally smooth.
