Olympus Camedia C-5050 Zoom Review

Olympus Camedia C-5050The Camedia C-5050 Zoom is one of the most advanced compact digital cameras in the Olympus range. It’s clearly aimed at the kind of photographer who requires full control, with a wide range of advanced photographic options. Is the C-5050 Zoom trying to do too much, or is it the perfect compromise between being full-featured and compact? Read my review to find out if the C-5050 Zoom has found the right balance.

  3. Looks like a decent enough camera, but from memory the Camedia software really sucks.

  4. I bought a C-5050 back in June, 2003 and have used it as a weekend and back-up camera. Most of my shooting is done with an E-20. There are a couple of advantages to the C-5050 that are worth noting. First is that The Adobe RAW plug-in for Photoshop (and now Photoshop CS) do recognize the RAW files from the camera. Second, although chromatic aberation is an issue with the lens, it is not any worse than other cameras I have used and Photoshop CS can take care of it easily. And finally the much discussed noise issue at ISO 100 is just not a problem, even in the larger prints that I have been making. It may seem to be noisy on the screen but I can assure you that the files print very clean.

  10. An excellent, informative, a thorough and detailed review which will certainly help decide which cameras to consider and which to disregard. I liked the multiple views of the camera and the sample shots.
