Having owned both Nikon and Olympus film SLRs, I was astonished by the quality of the Olympus E410. Compact, tough as old boots and utterly reliable, the build quality of this unit is way beyond what you might expect for the cash. Fantastic lenses (far, far beyond Canon/Nikon offerings). I've heard some complaints about balance/shake, but only from folks who don't know how to hold a camera properly. For my money, it's the best traveller's DSLR by a long chalk. Like the legendary OM, point it, shoot it, it'll do the job.
