“The theme here is people. I love photographing people and getting the best from them, getting them to show their true character and not that which they think the camera “wants”! Some of these images are from a wedding, some from portraits sessions and some from commissioned lifestyle shoots which I have to admit is my current favourite style. I have been into photography in a big way since 1979 when I got my first SLR and set up my own darkroom at a tender 13 years old. Digital has radically changed the way I photograph anything now as I am constantly thinking (what could I so to this later on?) as I am shooting. More work but a whole lot more fun. I now photograph for a living and cannot see that changing…ever. I am 38, married with a 2 year old son (who already knows how to scroll through images on our digicams) and a girl on the way.”

1. Well-executed photos, but this is the second portfolio where they've been spoilt by an overly visible watermark. A suggestion for photographers: if you're so paranoid about having your images stolen, keep them to yourself. This is a site for sharing them.

2. I particularly liked the "Paul McCartney" effect used in #4, with all the Beatles posing for the camera, except Paul (or in this case, the dog), who is apparently posing for a different camera. I would have darkened the bright spot in the dog's eye, and also the one in front of it's nose, to minimize their distraction from the center of attraction, namely, the child's face. Great use of depth of field in this regard, not to mention the effect of b&w;with a single color element. You have a flair for interestingly composed "non-posed" shots. Good luck with your up-and-coming delivery room lifestyle shoot.
   
   I also agree with Ade about the overly visible watermark, although, I imagine there could be negative consequences to eliminating it entirely. Maybe, with a little extra work, you could use a less obvious means to display your trademark. For instance, in #1, how about making the trademark appear as an emblem on the beach ball. In #2, since there is a lot of open sky, how about a blimp going by with your trademark in place of "Goodyear," or an airplane pulling a banner with your trademark. In #3, I could picture the wedding gown displaying the humorous message, "Property of All Things Photography." There must be an effect that could make the lettering appear to follow the curvature of a beach ball or blimp, the flowing of a banner, or the ruffling of the gown. I wonder how Mark deals with this issue.

3. Thanks for your comments guys. I thought it only polite and courteous to reply.
   
   I really appreciate your comments and suggestions and in particular with regard to the watermarks. This has always been a rough area for me, I don´t like them but I really like the idea of personalising them, i.e., on the dress or on a passing blimp...brilliant!
   
   In this case I was short for time and "mass produced" about 100 images in Photoshop using actions. This way it just placed it in the same place I had when recording the action.
   
   I dislike the use of watermarks, but when placing images of kids and weddings online, it can leave them open to abuse unfortunately.
   
   Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to add a comment and beautiful site by the way Mark!
