Ricoh Caplio R7 Review
The Ricoh Caplio R7 is an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 7x zoom lens equivalent to 28-200mm on a 35mm camera, yet it’s only 23mm thick and weighs just 135g. A mere 6 months on from the previous R6 model, the Ricoh R7 adds more megapixels and a slightly tweaked user interface, whilst retaining the optical image stabilizer and 1cm macro mode of the R6. Does the new Ricoh R7 offer a better all-round package than the R6, and is it still our point-and-shoot camera of choice? Read our Ricoh R7 review to find out.

Great review, but I don't think you mentioned that the WAV recording functionality (great for narration and general comments) which has been available since the R1 has been unfortunately dropped for the R7.

An in depth review, well written. My ONLY criticism is that you skipped the substantial manual controls/over-rides available (focus, metering, exposure compensation etc.). As the R7 is primarily 'point & shoot', that's reasonable; however it's also a pocketable 'tool' for the serious photographer.

Many thanks for your very helpful review. I'm looking forward to being able to test the camera myself now as your review convinced me that it was the camera that was just right for what I need from a pocket camera.

Thanks for bringing this camera to my attention. The review was thorough, and quite helpful. My only question would be that the purple fringing appeared worse in the sample photos than the text would imply. But overall an excellent discussion of what appears to be an excellent camera.

Great review and very useful. I would, however, like to know more about how to take good indoor portrait shots using the flash. I currently find the portrait mode heavily overexposes peoples faces. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
