Sony Cyber-shot H50 Review

Sony Cyber-shot H50The new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50 super-zoom camera is the subject of our 250th product review! Sporting a 15x zoom lens with a focal length of 31-465mm, the H50 may not be quite as wide or long as its main competitors, most notably the Olympus SP-570 UZ, but it does have a few other standout features, including a large 3 inch LCD screen that tilts up or down. With a recommended price-tag of £299 / $400, the Sony H50 is something of a bargain, but can it really take on the likes of the SP-570 UZ and Nikon Coolpix P80 that we looked at last week? Gavin Stoker put the Sony Cyber-shot H50 through its paces…

  1. I'm so glad that you were positive about this camera. Have been thinking of getting one for a while now. Guess I'm off to the shop now!

  2. Hi!
I have a question about the text:
"All of the sample images in this Review were taken using the 9 megapixel Fine JPEG setting, which gives an average image size of around 4Mb"

H-50 it is not possible settings, JPEG quality, so where such a condition? As well as all the pictures in the test are max. 3.4 megabytes. How it can be explained?
Sorry for my poor english smile

  3. BankEr, that was an error on our part, which I've now corrected.

  4. Good review, but what's with the sample photos? Even if the sky is burned in every photo, they're too dark. I bought H50, and it takes much better photos than these. You've put it on Auto and took these bad photos. Next time, try and post some real photos, show what the camera can real do. Why to buy a camera like this one, and keep it on Auto?
