At these prices it is still worth while to put your cash in a money market account earning 4% interest and pay for a Mozy.com account with unlimited back-ups online.

Nice starting review (of a drive I just purchased for my own system). Only question would be 'What about the built-in software for backup vs a software like SuperDuper! (sorry, exclamation point is part of the program's name) ?'
À Related question would be 'how about if the drive is partitionned (after reformating with Apple's Disk utility)... How well does the Western Digital software work with partitions?'
Yet another question: 'Can I have a bootable external backup made with the WD backup software?'
I'd love a feedback if you have the answers to the above questions.
Thanks,
MP

Hello Again... I found some more info about the 'Memeo LifeAgent' software that comes with the WD Hard Drive. According to MacLife (URL: http://www.maclife.com/article/memeo_lifeagent) it would seem that the software can not make a bootable backup drive. Just wanted to share this info. For me, it is still going to be SuperDuper! to 'clone' bootable partitions on my Firewire external drives (It worked well in the past with a 250GB drive I actually use as my main 'computer Operating system' drive).
CIao.

Just a thought, but you wrote a review of a 2TB solution (mirrored) and then showed prices for a 1TB solution
