‘A City Exposed’ - A new take on urban photography with the Panasonic Lumix GF2

Creativity is key to taking great photographs. The ability to see the world differently and look beyond the obvious allows photographers to turn everyday moments into unique works of art that tell stories and evoke feelings. But this creative instinct also needs support from the right digital camera to capture such moments. The latest addition to the Lumix G series of compact system cameras, Panasonic GF2 has been designed for when inspiration strikes – without compromising on quality.

Today, Panasonic is launching ‘A City Exposed’ campaign, which with thanks to the work of up and coming Photographer, Will Cooper Mitchell, showcases five new Galleries of stunning photographs and a short film, taken with the GF2 demonstrating the camera’s performance, specifically focused around a day in the life of one City.

As a photographer, and short film director, based in London, much of Will’s work focuses on portraits, with an obvious slant towards documentary. His pictures tell stories, which is what makes them so appealing to both the public and fellow photographers. For ‘A City Exposed’ Will’s images capture a candid portrait of life in London, but rather than focus on the significant landmarks we associate with the bustling capital, exposes more intimate interaction with everyday environments and the characters that are the life blood of London’s cultural diversity.

From the artistic portraits of tattooists and east end market traders, to the cinematic short film of a BMX rider performing tricks on a warehouse roof top, the campaign presents a diverse collection of creative snapshots that tell the story of a city exposed.

Speaking about his experience with the Lumix GF2, Will comments ‘My usual pro set up is great but the GF2 has freed me up and allowed me to be the photographer who always has a camera in his pocket and never misses a good opportunity – well, almost never! The problem for photographers is you can’t just shut off. I am always thinking about that picture just there or the one across the street. The GF2 has allowed all those moments to become unmissable.”

Based on the Micro Four Thirds standard, the Lumix-GF2 offers an outstanding compactness and ease of operation while pursuing D-SLR image quality. The new model is equipped with a built-in flash, features 12.1-megapixel high speed Live MOS sensor and high performance Venus Engine FHD plus boasts high picture quality not only in photo but also in movie, which has been upgraded in resolution to full HD 1920 x 1080 at 50i (PAL) in AVCHD. The operation is extremely easy to understand for any level of users with the adoption of touch control and the new Graphic User Interface (GUI) designed especially for Lumix-GF2.

‘The Panasonic GF2 was a revelation to me – inspiring me to bike, bus and run around the city’s streets being creative – and reminding me what it felt like to pick up a camera for the first time.’ Copper Mitchell summarised.

The beauty of carrying a camera with you at all times means you can capture the perfect story that the eye can sometimes miss. A City Exposed will be running from 7th March and to see more shots from Will Cooper Mitchell please visit Panasonic’s dedicated Lumix G community – http://www.lumixlifestyle.co.uk/lumix-gf2-showcase/galleries/
