ACD Systems have launched two new products, acdVIDEO Converter (for Windows and MacOS) and ACDSee Duplicate Finder Standalone Edition (MacOS only). acdVIDEO Converter converts HD video files for playback on all popular media devices including an iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune, mobile phones from Blackberry and Nokia; and game consoles including PS3 and Xbox 360. “While there are currently several open source programs that offer a degree of this functionality, they are often unreliable and do not cover the same breadth of formats as acdVIDEO Converter,” the company claims. The program is available for purchase at the ACDSee website for a limited time offer of $14.99. ACDSee Duplicate Finder - the standalone Mac-only version of a popular feature currently integrated into ACDSee Pro 5 and ACDSee 14 - helps people with large photo or video libraries locate hard-to-find duplicate files. Duplicates can then be eliminated, freeing up valuable disk space. Though the MSRP is $9.99, it will be available in the Mac App Store starting Thursday, 22th December at a discount of $4.99 through 9th January.

ACD Systems International Inc. Announces Duplicate Finder and Video Converter
SEATTLE & VICTORIA, Canada—(BUSINESS WIRE)—ACD Systems International Inc. today announced the release of two new product offerings, acdVIDEO Converter and ACDSee Duplicate Finder. Both products are designed to help users better manage and share their growing stores of photo, video and other digital assets. acdVIDEO Converter converts video files for playback on all popular media devices including an iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune, mobile phones from Blackberry and Nokia; and game consoles including PS3 and Xbox 360. ACDSee Duplicate Finder helps individuals with large music, photo, or video libraries locate hard to find duplicate files. Duplicates can then be eliminated, freeing up valuable disk space.
“At ACD Systems we’re committed to helping consumers do more with photo, video and other important digital assets,” said Doug Vandekerkove, CEO of ACD Systems. “Our commitment to quality photo editing and management is now extended to help people find and share any file on their computers. Our dedication to our customers starts at the creation of the asset and lasts a lifetime.”
acdVIDEO Converter is a simple, easy-to-use HD video converter that can convert video files between most popular media formats at the highest speed and quality. It is designed to be used with mobile media devices, and is ideal for anyone with a collection of digital videos stored on several devices. While there are currently several open source programs that offer a degree of this functionality, they are often unreliable and do not cover the same breadth of formats as acdVIDEO Converter. Additionally, the program can extract the audio from a video source, and save it as an MP3 or other popular audio format.
acdVIDEO Converter creates a to-do list of videos to convert, and then sets the program to shut down once conversion has been completed. The converter also incorporates smart video aspect ratio clipping, so if the input video aspect ratio does not match the output profile screen aspect ratio, acdVIDEO Converter can automatically clip the edges of the input video to make full use of the device’s screen.
The converter comes with pre-defined output profiles for all kinds of mobile media devices including iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune, mobile phones from Blackberry and Nokia, and game consoles including PS3 and Xbox 360. Find a complete list of supported input and output file formats on the ACDSee website. The product is available for purchase at http://www.acdsee.com for a limited time offer of $14.99 USD.
ACD Systems is also releasing ACDSee Duplicate Finder, a popular feature currently integrated into ACDSee Pro 5 and ACDSee 14 photo editing and management software, as a standalone product for Mac users. For individuals with large music, photo, or video libraries, unknown duplicate files often take up precious hard drive space, and may not even be listed under the same name, making them extremely difficult to find. By examining the MD5 checksum routines (hashes) in every file on a computer or user-selected folders, or the first 100 bytes of data, ACDSee Duplicate Finder is able to identify duplicates of any type of file, regardless of whether the file name is the same or not. This product allows users to search and view every single file on a hard drive and connected devices, and will find all duplicate files, showing where they are so that users can move them to trash, create new folders, etc. This gives users the opportunity to reduce the amount of clutter and space taken up on their hard drive.
ACDSee Duplicate Finder has a simple user interface that shows a thumbnail of the file, along with file name, size, the last date modified, and then provides a recommendation on which files to keep. Though the MSRP is $9.99 USD, it will be available in the Mac App Store starting Thursday, December 22, 2011 at a discount of $4.99 USD through January 9, 2012.
ACD Systems is also announcing updates to their existing photo editing and management software, with ACDSee Pro 5.1 and ACDSee 14.1 available in English, French and German. New RAW updates are now available for several new camera models. Find a complete list of supported cameras on the ACDSee website. There has also been an enhancement to the Dodge and Burn tool that will give users more flexibility in determining shadows and midtones, allowing for more refined and controlled changes to photos.
