Afghanistan: On the Bounce is a new title featuring photographs by Robert Cunningham. "Through glossy photos, pull-out literature, and writings by Steven Hartov, readers start from the outset of servicemembers’ deployment and finish not only with the servicemembers’ heartfelt return, but with a deeper understanding of their experience in Afghanistan," the publisher says. Cunningham took 55,000 photographs over his time as an embedded photographer, and the book features the very best of his work. The 162-page volume is available now, priced at $40.
From the professional photographer whose art is a permanent feature in the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and who has photographed the five living United States presidents and nine heads of state, 12 prime ministers, numerous astronauts, celebrities, and Fortune 500 CEOs, comes a debut photography book: Afghanistan: On The Bounce (Insight Editions, January 2014).
Robert Cunningham took 55,000 photographs over his time as an imbedded photographer in Afghanistan, and a selection of the best photographs were published in the book. Cunningham’s work has taken him aboard US Navy submarines, into zero-gravity in low Earth orbit, and to more than 450 cities in 25 countries, but his most unique experience was to join the servicemembers that he desperately wanted to serve with. So he brought a camera to a gunfight.
Through glossy photos, pull-out literature, and writings by Steven Hartov, readers start from the outset of servicemembers’ deployment and finish not only with the servicemembers’ heartfelt return, but with a deeper understanding of their experience in Afghanistan. Cunningham’s high-gloss, high-definition photographs will have inspire readers through his portrayal of what our brave servicemembers feel and see every day, on and off the battlefield.
