After Life: Streatham Cemetery
“After Life: Streatham Cemetery” is a year in the life of a London cemetery, as seen through the eyes of photographer Jonathan Clark. The website is split up into Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, with Winter being the most prolific and interesting season in my opinion. All of the photographs were taken between dusk and dawn over a 2-year period. It’s a well-executed photography project, although I’m not sure about the animation of flowers and leaves in some of the photographs.

You're not sure about the animations? You must be kidding! They're terribly saccharine additions to what is already a sappy photography genre in general. There are some good photos in there, but the addition of grave stones popping up out of the ground, flowers racing up out of the ground and snow flakes falling in the winter scenes just detracts from the power of the still image.

That's what I meant Todd - for me the Flash animations detract from the photographs. I was just being diplomatic in my original post
I do like the website and concept though, presenting the images as part of an overall theme/project.

I totally agree. I would have enjoyed this more had the animations not been animated. I'm all for trying new things, but it just came across as trite. Although I would have liked to see a time-stop animation of the entire year.

good idea but the photos are somewhat cliched IMO.
and as for the digital effects! they are both tacky AND overused. do we really need to see flowers growing out of graves in half a dozen consecutive photos? or marsh gas (spirits?) rising out of the ground?
all in all worth a visit but only once............
