Yosemite’s Horsetail Falls is the subject of The Ansel Adams Gallery’s first One Day Workshop. Michael Frye, author of the Photographer’s Guide to Yosemite, will lead up to ten participants to photograph Horsetail Fall’s waterfall, which appears to glow orange-red, as if on fire. The workshop takes place on February 20th and 22nd and costs $225.
The Ansel Adams Gallery Press Release
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. – Yosemite’s natural firefall, Horsetail Falls, is the focus of the first in a series of new, monthly “One Day Workshops” from The Ansel Adams Gallery. It occurs on Feb. 20 and Feb. 22.
Late each February, a phenomenon occurs in Yosemite Valley, when late afternoon sunlight passes through Horsetail Fall, on the eastern flank of El Capitan, making the waterfall appear to glow orange-red, as if on fire. In this one-day workshop, Michael Frye, author of the Photographer’s Guide to Yosemite, will lead up to ten participants to locations favored by local photographers and instruct them on how to best capture the scene on digital cameras. Cost is $225.
Succeeding monthly themed photographic workshops are planned on such subjects as Dogwood blooms, waterfalls, high country wildflowers, fall color, composition and light, basic photographic technique, the digital darkroom and using your digital camera, among others.
The Ansel Adams Gallery also holds longer, multi-day workshops throughout the year. The next is about winter light and will be led by Yosemite photographer Keith S. Walklet (Feb. 11 – 15) at a cost of $900. Participation for all workshops is limited. To register, visit “Photography Education” at http://www.anseladams.com
