Hi Robin,
Intro2020 are the UK distributors for the Apacer Disk Steno. Their telephone number is 01628 674411 and their website is here:
http://www.intro2020.co.uk/
Apacer's website is here:
http://www.apacer.com
To answer your questions.
1. You'd need to check this out, as the Apacer website just says 7 different memory card types.
2. The Steno 2000 has a USB2.0 interface, but USB 2 is backwards compatible with USB 1.0/1.1, so it should work.
3. Contact Intro2020.
4. I would think that Apacer would ensure that the Steno 2000 would work with the different worldwide TV systems.

Thanks to Mark Goldstein for the information on the Apacer Disc Steno CP200 and for answering some of Robin Turner's - and my - questions.
Here's a supplementary. Picture yourself going round India with little more than a rucksack, and of course your digital camera. You don't want to be saddled with too many CDs. So - - can I write multiple sessions from my 128mb card to one CD-RW, or would I also have to splash out on a much bigger flash card in order to get optimal storage on a CD?

I think you would be fine burning multiple sessions onto a CD-RW, as that it what that CD format is designed for. You would only be able to burn once onto a CD-R. I'm guessing that the CP200 will just append a new session after the previous one, until the CD is full.

I am looking into the CP200 to take on an overland trip in March (see http://www.holland2himalayas.co.uk) Does the CP200 come supplied with a carry case and 12V car apaptor, as its predecesor the CP100 did? I can't find details of this in any online shop.
Also, did you know the CP200 costs much less in the Netherlands? It is the same price in Euros!

Always write in "secure" mode. Or in real world terms, let it verify the disc after it has written it.
It does not work at all with CD-RW media. It will write the disc, but you won't be able to use any of the files.
I've tried using the files on OSX 10.2.4 and Win XP with no succuss.
CD-R media? Yup works perfectly. Pretty much all I needed the device for anyhow.

Keep in mind this drive is a 10x rw drive. I would expect that you would have to use 4x-10x CDRWs NOT 1x-4x or what is normally called 4x.

Actually all 10x drives will write to slower media. Besides this, however, our first CD-RW turd happened with the Apacer-provided media.
I received a reply from Apacer "technical support" (21 days after my request for help) that stated "thank you for contacting technicle [sic] support" and had attached a 4MB PDF of the manual that already came with the drive.
Still no other problems with the drive. I've used 4 times since my last post.

Hello again,
We left Europe on 1st March in our car, we have now arrived in India! We are really really pleased with the Apacer CP200. You can write from your memory card to a CD until it is full, you can play music or DVDs in your hotel room, it works for a good while just from the battery, plus it seems to be coping well with being stashed in the back of a Land Rover on South Asian roads. We have used it a couple of times a week for the last 4 months and we have no complaints at all!!!
Happy snapping!
Louisa.

what a complete load of american tosh! How about not brown nosing for a minute & doing a proper review? Its like a 'movie' review! How about reviewing it yourself rather than taking company quotes!! Although I agree it is an excellent machine overall, how about mentioning for example it is slow to display images on screen & any other minor (or major) flaws it may have.
