Photography Blog launched a competition last November with Autosport International, the world’s greatest motorsport show, to find a talented amateur motorsport photographer. Following an overwhelming response, five finalists have now been selected to attend the show, which takes place at the Birmingham NEC this weekend (14-15 January).
The standard of entries was extremely high, however the judging panel was particularly impressed by a quintet of photographs. Tim Fountain’s drag racer, ‘sunrise at the World Rally Championship’ by Paul Thomas, Josh Hayes’ Lotus F1 car, Simon Powell’s historic racing action shot (above) and ‘number nine’ by David George have been nominated for the Autosport International Amateur Motorsport Photographer title.
LAT Photographic, the largest motoring and motorsport photography collection in the world, will announce the winning image on its stand at Autosport International this Saturday (14 January). The winner will receive the coveted prize of a one-to-one tuition session from a professional LAT photographer at this summer’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
If you’d like to attend Autosport International this weekend, tickets are still on sale from £30 for adults and £19.50 for children aged five and over. More information is available at http://www.autosportinternational.com. In the meantime, here’s a sneak preview of the final five images in contention for the Autosport International Amateur Motorsport Photographer crown.
