Bushnell Press Release

Record, Track and Share with the New Bushnell BackTrack D-TOUR Personal GPS Device

The Bushnell BackTrack series of simple to operate navigation devices have revolutionised the personal hand-held GPS market, giving users an easy way to mark waypoints and find their way from point A to point B without a lot of unnecessary, complicated features.

For 2012, Bushnell introduces the BackTrack D-TOUR, a user-friendly, personal GPS device that makes it easier than ever to record your track and find your way back. The D-TOUR includes a host of new features – including the ability to record, track and share your adventures – while remaining committed to the “GPS made simple” design.

The BackTrack D-TOUR allows users to mark up to five locations, while providing simple distance and direction to each location. This makes marking and locating camp sites, favourite pubs or your parked vehicle quick and easy. In addition to a self-calibrating digital compass, the device provides time, temperature, altitude, and current latitude/longitude coordinates.

After the trip is over, users can easily upload and save up to 48 hours of data to a PC or MAC using the free D-TOUR software application. By overlaying saved routes on a topographic map, users can view routes from hunting or scouting trips, and quickly evaluate the course to determine better routes. The D-TOUR also captures key stats including length of the trip, average speed, elevation and temperature. This data can easily be saved for future use or uploaded and shared via email or social media.

With the peace of mind that comes from knowing you can always find your way back, and at just six ounces (170g) and compact enough to store in a pocket or clip to your backpack, the Bushnell BackTrack D-TOUR makes your next hunting, hiking, camping, boating or fishing outing safer and more enjoyable.

It is available in red or green, includes a USB cable, and sells for a suggested retail price of £99.99.

This is a great application of GPS technology in photography.
GPS Technology has also become a dominant feature in the transportation industry and it is one of those examples where military technology has been transferred successfully to civilian applications.
There are many fields where GPS devices have proved to be highly useful and practical and they have solved many problems. For example, GPS technology has been applied successfully in aviation, in telecommunications, in meteorology, and the list goes on. Who could have imagined that GPS real-time information and data transfer would be used in financial services? And, what’s more, social activities could not be left out of the modern craziness with GPS gadgets.
