ByteSector Reviews Panasonic DMC-FZ10 Lumix

Mark Goldstein | Digital Compact Cameras | June 9, 2004 | 5 Comments

Panasonic DMC-FZ10 LumixByteSector have posted a less than favourable review of the Panasonic DMC-FZ10 Lumix ultrazoom digital camera.

“Getting right into it! It’s horrible; the image quality is not what I expected it to be at all. I have not seen such overexposed pictures ever in my life. After taking a look at this camera, I don’t think Panasonic should make another digital camera at all. They should leave that up to the camera experts such as Canon and Konica Minolta.”

Well that has to be the worst review ever. Surely (a) the "reviewer" had a faulty camera or (b) the "reviewer" never used the FZ10 and made up that so called review.

It boggles the mind.

To continue Backfire's list: c) the camera was probably in spot-metering mode and he didn't know it, or d) the "reviewer" is defective. He's taking a closeup of a black mp3 player with bright sunlight behind it...of course the surrounding areas are going to be blown out. The face of the mp3 player appears nicely exposed.

I have used the FZ10 for almost a month. My camera bears no relation to the camera reviewed in ByteSector. The camera has produced awesome images. At a college graduation I made images at 60 yards which were crystal clear and perfectly exposed. Either the reviewer had a defective camera or he sould not be a bona fide reviewer.

I tried to leave a rebuttal on the site was unsuccessful.
I too have had the camera about a month. It takes a little time to get the feel of it like any other camera. However, I am very happy with the results of pictures I took at a recent graduation (external flash) and at the beach (no flash or on-board one.) The long, stabilized zoom sold me on it and I have gifted my Olympus UZI to my daughter.

The guy who wrote the review is clearly a clown. He now admits that he had a faulty camera for his first review (I still suspect that he was simply using spot mode incorrectly ... the pictures he had up just SCREAMED of it). However, he's currently complaining that he doesn't like the color of the camera (black) because black is only for "professional SLRs".

Perhaps next he'll complain that he doesn't like the font Panasonic has used for the lettering on the FZ-10 ...
