Canon Digital IXUS 960 IS Review
The Canon Digital IXUS 960 IS, also known as the Canon Digital ELPH SD950 IS, is the first IXUS model to offer a 12 megapixel sensor. With a recommended price of £369 / $449, it is positioned as the flagship Canon IXUS camera, just above the 6 month old 950 IS model. As the name suggests, the Canon IXUS 960 IS has an optically image stabilised lens with a focal length of 36-133mm, a 2.5 inch LCD screen and a true optical viewfinder. Other features include a stylish and durable all-titanium body, advanced face detection and ISO speeds up to a maximum of 1600. The Canon Digital IXUS 960 IS is a premium product with a premium price - does it offer enough to warrant the hefty price tag? Mark Goldstein found out…

This review was educational for me and very helpful. I have the Canon IXUS 960 IS, purchased November 2007 on special at an airport display. It was not the least expensive choice, but value for price was good, compared with the camera I had been using and considering the improved capture ability with Image Stabilisation. The IXUS 960 is lighter than my Sony CyberShot, a big plus while travelling. The battery is lightweight and long-lasting. Combined with extra SanDisk 4GB memory, this camera seems to be a perfect travel companion.
The instructions came in various foreign languages; while learning to use the camera, I have been winging it. In his review, Mark Goldstein has mentioned features I was unaware of and explained others to my better understanding. The in-depth discussions of image quality and specifications were especially helpful and will help when shooting photos. The content of this review has reassured me that I made a good decision to get this model.
