Canon EOS-1D Mark III Autofocus Problem?

Mark Goldstein | Digital SLR Cameras | June 20, 2007 | 1 Comments

Canon EOS-1D Mark IIIRob Galbraith has highlighted a serious problem with the auto-focusing system used in the new Canon EOS-1D Mark III DSLR camera. Apparently both pre- and production cameras “can’t hold focus on static subjects very well and it can’t track moving subjects very well.” Worth reading before splashing out $5,000.

“Q. Is the autofocus better in the production EOS-1D Mark III than it was in the preproduction unit?
No. The autofocus problems of the preproduction unit are mirrored in production EOS-1D Mark IIIs.”

I have had the MkIII for about 6 weeks and shot about 4700 images - many outdoors in the sun 85*... I have had very few focus issues... maybe 12 to 15 at the utmost... Shooting is Horses over fences...
