Canon EOS 20DNeed I say anymore?!

Wll, OK then grin It looks as though Canon USA have dropped the ball by posting 3 images of the EOS 20D in their press room before the official press release (widely rumoured to be the end of this week). They’re currently available at the following URL (although I wouldn’t expect that page to be there for very long…):

Website: Canon USA Press Room

As you can see from the pictures, the 20D will support the same EF-S lens mount as the EOS 300D, and there is a new EF-S lens in the shape of the 17-85mm F4-5.6, which will also be image-stabilised.

As for the actual specification of the camera, the best that I can do is this non-official list from a thread on the DPReview forums:

EOS-20D
8.2 MegaPixels
DIGIC II
1:1.6x Crop
9 Point focusing
1/8000s Max Shutter speed
5fps Continuous speed
25 frame buffer
EF-s support
E-TTL II support
0.2sec startup time
50g lighter than 10D

Price US$1600 RRP
(Street price should be closer to 1300 they say)

August 20 - Announcement
September 20 - On Sale

Also 2 Lenses will be announced at launch of 20D
EF-s 10-22mm /f 3.5-4.5
EF-s 17-85mm /f 4-5.6 IS (Will be sold with 20D also like the 300D)

Code for your link to the Canon web site is broken, but the actual web site is working fine at the moment.

The first sample to get here is mine. It's not exactly what I want but it will have to do.

Those two lenses are also mine wink

that's gonna kill mark2. 8mp, 5fps - pretty close to mk2. 1.6x crop kinda sucks, but still i wouldn't pay $4500 for mark2 when 20D is only $1600 (it will actually be cheaper, $1500 probably)

Nothing here wows me. Only the faster shutter, but that is a nice to have. I will sit on the fence and wait for those who know how to review cameras, review this one. Two things I want to know, where does noise start and the E-TTL II. The new lens look slow, but should be great for those first time buyers of this camera. I would not sell my "L" lens for these two. I kind of disappointed, is that all there is. Hopefully not when the professional done camera reviews come out I will change my mind because right now I not going buy it. Sad I been D-30, D-60 and 10D owner. Maybe it is time for 1DMKII?

you just can't compare a 20D and a mkII, there's more to that camera than just 8mp and 8.5fps.

I just have to say that I could not be happier with the camera. I have the 10d and it just flat-out out performers the camera. Check your images you will be quite pleased at what you see. Now if canon would just add the eye control feature to the package it would be complete. Alright to be total honest if the magnification was 1.3 or dare I say 1.0 that would make it complete.

Sounds good! Although I think I will be sticking with the 10D until the next generation...

help with diagnosis, if possible: with my 20D and 2 lenses the 10-22 made for the 20D, and the 18-35. The problem: in mounting each lense onto the camera bodies (problem is with both 20D bodies I have),I line up color dots, put lense on, twist and instead of reaching the "click" point where the lense is "mounted" in place, the lense mount will spin round and round as I twist, but NEVER reaches a 'click' ie is NOT mounted in place. Is this a lense problem or a camera body problem (or both?).
