Firmware version 1.0.8 for the EOS Rebel T2i / 550D DSLR camera has been released, incorporating the following fixes.

- Fixes a phenomenon in which the set aperture moves unexpectedly when shooting movies in manual exposure mode using some Canon lenses (such as macro lenses).

The Version 1.0.8 firmware is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.7. If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.0.8, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

hey, I kind of have the same problem, I cannot understand why!?

This only happens when the camera is turned on right after it was turned off (like within a few seconds or so).

And I notice that normally the sensor cleaning only operate when the camera is turned off, but now, it operates when the camera is turned on as well...

+nothing would appear on the screen until you press the menu button

Can anyone help?

Fortunately i don't seem to have that problem so far, but they srcewed up the Display Previous State, simply does not work.

in 1.0.6, display would come on at power up if was on at power down, and then be on only short time until viewfinder went into standby (6 sec).

Now display is off no matter what you do - i.e. was on before power down and not on at power up, or when on it stays on for 30 seconds if you decide to use it,until entire camera goes into standby (lcd auto off in menu), thus burning through battery (!!!).

****ing geekhead Canon engineers. Don't have a clue about the real world??

As far as i am concerned they messed up Display auto on/off - Why change that? worked great, now a battery hog, or have to press on manually out of sleep or power on. Brilliant!

I set the "set" button to lcd on/off in custom functions, more convenient than using DISP, but now I have to turn on lcd at boot up and turn off after use to avoid 30 second on. Wow, the proximity sensor still works though (way to go Canon!!)

Waiting for 1.0.9, please complain to Canon !!!!!!!!

Yes sensor clean at power on/off makes no sense to me. At Power On is sufficient, no?

I have problems with LCD initially turned off and unfortunatelly even "reseting all camera settings" doesn't help or playing with Custom Function 11 :(
There is a big chance that after ugrading to 1.0.8 firmware you MUST turn LCD manually after EVERY camera power on!

Same display problem here ever since firmware update 1.0.8; I'm now on 1.0.9 and problem still persist.
I sent the camera to Canon Canada, took 1 month and they replaced the proximity sensor and reflashed to 1.0.9

The camera was ok, but as soon as I dial in my personal settings, problem is still there!! aarrrgg!

I just sent them the camera back to Canon, waiting for explanations.
