Canon PowerShot A710 IS Review at DCResource

Canon PowerShot A710 ISDCResource have the first review of the new Canon PowerShot A710 IS digital camera.

“The PowerShot A710 IS takes an already excellent camera—the A700—and adds some one really useful feature (image stabilization) and one not-so-useful feature (more pixels). Despite going up from 6 to 7 Megapixels, the A710’s photo quality remained very good, with noise levels that are perhaps lowered than on its predecessor. When you look at the whole package—from the photo quality to the image stabilizer to the manual controls—you’ll see that the A710 offers a lot of camera for your $400.”

What about battery life? The A640+630 have 4 AA cells. One of my friends likes a point&shoot;, but I tend more to recommend the A630... any hints and thoughts ?

I have had the A710 IS for a week and have been shooting a lot to learn it's features. I have some 2700 mAh rechargeable batteries on order, but now I am getting nearly 100 shots from a set of ordinary alkaline batteries, pretty good, I think. I was leary about going down from 4 cells to 2, but I don't think it will be a big deal -- BUT, I always carry one or two spare sets when I am using the camera.
