Has anyone taken any photos yet? If so how does the sensor cope with the 14MP resolution and the 35x zoom?

Hi Tina,
Checkout the site below for some nature photos samples of the SX30. The site takes a little time to load, so be patient:

Cheers!

Daryl- Thanks for your recommendation. The site I was put through to (on the link you supplied) was in a language I couldn't understand, presumably Japanese, Chinese or other oriental language. Think I'll wait for the reviews!

Tina...I have checked out that site, too. It has a logo from another language and you have to wait a while for the logo to turn green and then it will say enter.
It is worth waiting for and viewing!

Thank you, it was worth the wait. I could only get into the nature photos. I'll try again as I'd like to see urban and people shots too.

Hi guys, i have used this camera while in a Jessops store, couple of weeks ago. I found the manual focus adjustment a bit awkward, i found the jog wheel when rotated, goes into a very fine adjustment mode and takes a while to get it spot on. The center of the view finder magnifies as usual to help get the focus just right. I had only a few mins to play with it and the sales person didnt know anything about it, so blind leading the blind. I put my SD card in the camera and put it into auto mode and took some shots down the highstreet. I went home and compared them to the same shots i took of the same scenery with my Olypmus SP800UZ previously, when comparing the fuji HS10. The comparison pics i posted up on this forum, look under the Olympus SP800UZ thread, I am tim77jet. I found the definition better and generaly clearer pictures from my olympus over the other two cameras, which were all set to Auto. Also the colours were more acurate with the Olympus. One thing i did not check, was if the resolution on the canon was in 14 mega pixels, but on returning home, after 20 mins i called the shop to see if anyone had used the camera and what settings it was in. They said they were pretty sure noone had touched the camera, and it was in 14 megs, so best to try yourselves.
The Olympus does not have manual focus, which is a shame, the other two do. If you are interested, in this camera, go to jessops and ask nicely to have a play, cheers tim

i have posted many pics up that i recently took with the Olympus on safari, nearly all bird pics are at 30X and a lot of the animals are also at 30X and all hand held. Overall i was very pleased with the results. I blew up a couple of pics one was 50X70cm and framed, the quality is great. cheers tim
