Casio Exilim EX-Z110 Review at CNET

Mark Goldstein | Digital Compact Cameras | October 19, 2005 | 1 Comments

Casio EX-Z110CNET have published the first online review of the new 6 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z110 digital camera.

“The Casio Exilim EX-Z110 doesn’t have the sleek and sexy form factor of its siblings, but this 6-megapixel, 3X zoom camera offers a broad range of features—including manual exposure controls and a wealth of scene modes—that will appeal to an equally varied array of photographers. Its image quality falls a little short of good, and its performance is mixed, but snapshooters who want more than just a basic point-and-shoot may find this camera appealing.”

There's a lot to like:

* Compact
* Powered by a pair of (rechargable) AA's
* Good battery life
* Some form of image stabilization
* Inexpensive
* Decent VGA-size movie mode w/ sound
* Non-proprietary SD-card storage
* USB 2 support without need for base unit

Image quality won't be of SLR quality but to my knowledge these new Casios are the first compact digitals to provide all of the above features in one package. With better optics and mechanical image stabilization this concept will be hard to beat, and one day even these compacts will be equipped with WiFi or WiMax to allow for real-time streaming of footage!

Imagine a few of those smuggled into the numerous Chinese concentration camps inside occupied Tibet...!
