Happiness Engines have launched Colorized, a “social sketching” app for the iPhone. Colorized lets users snap a picture with their phone and then convert it into a pencil sketch. “Colorized helps turn that creative vision into a sharable sketch – to post to Facebook or Twitter, or to just share through the app itself in the stream of the community’s doodling,” the company says. “Colorized is the modern, social way to doodle. It lets you turn the world around you into a canvas or a coloring book, and more importantly prompts a great visual conversation with your friends.” The Colorized app is available as a free download from iTunes.
Colorized for iPhone Turns the World into a Social Sketchpad
Doodle & Remix Friends’ Sketches; Then Effortlessly Share with Others
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – November 8, 2012 – The iPhone’s camera has forever changed the way people view and capture the world around them, and Colorized (www.colorized.by) from Happiness Engines, Inc. takes digital images to a brand-new level. Combining the power of the camera, and the creative genius of the touch screen’s drawing capabilities, Colorized is the first app that spurs a sketch-centered conversation – allowing people to draw on photos, and endlessly remix and share creations.
Put simply: today’s launch of Colorized is the launch of social sketching.
Colorized lets users snap a picture – of their view, their boss, their friends, or whatever’s in their camera roll – and then sketch to their heart’s desire. Is that a shark in the water? See a colleague with devil horns? Should that outfit be a different color? Colorized helps turn that creative vision into a sharable sketch – to post to Facebook or Twitter, or to just share through the app itself in the stream of the community’s doodling. Each sketch is the starting point for a remix, and each remix gets grouped with its family — making it easy to hold ongoing doodle battles among friends, and to keep track of the conversation.
“We’ve all been doodling since we were kids,” said Yan-David Erlich, the founder of Happiness Engines. “Colorized is the modern, social way to doodle. It lets you turn the world around you into a canvas or a coloring book, and more importantly prompts a great visual conversation with your friends.”
The new app gives a new look at common images; entertains kids for hours; and inspires creativity and collaboration (or competition!) among groups of people. With the new Colorized, people can now:
Capture and Recreate
Take a picture (or import from the camera roll) and instantly transform it into ‘toon color’ or a black-and-white outline, which creates a unique coloring book
Color or sketch on the image (or on a blank canvas) using the pencil, spray can, or eraser
Add stamps – from mustaches to monsters and more – and one-touch Undo to correct accidental monocles
Zoom in for fine detail, or out to add a miniature fighter jet or Godzilla to the skyline
Save & Share
Publish instantly; share easily with iOS6 Facebook or Twitter functionality; and save to the camera roll
Invite Friends from your Contacts list or from Facebook to start sketch battles with buddies
Explore friends’ creations and check out popular sketches from the Colorized community
Remix! Any image can inspire a new take on a sketch. Top hat? Yes, please
With additional features like content flagging, searchability, popularity ranking and the ability to see what others like, Colorized fosters a community of creativity (and even comedy!). The brand-new app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store at: http://colorized.by/get
