Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI
Corel Press Release
New Release Sets The Standard For Easy-to-Use, Professional-Quality Image Editing Software At An Affordable Price
Maidenhead, UK - 12 September 2006 - Corel Corporation (NASDAQ:CREL; TSX:CRE) today announced the release of Corel® Paint Shop Pro® Photo XI, a major new product release from its award-winning digital imaging portfolio. The new flagship digital imaging software package continues the tradition of providing easy-to-use, professional-quality editing software at an affordable price. Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI is a complete digital photography toolkit that allows users to edit, manage and share their photos as well as create stunning photo projects, Paint Shop Pro XI offers a range of versatile new features and enhancements that meet the needs of novices, photo hobbyists and professional photographers alike. In addition, business users will also find Corel Paint Shop Pro XI an ideal solution for editing and enhancing photos used in a variety of corporate communications materials such as presentations, technical documentation, marketing collateral and emails.
Priced at £77 excl VAT for the full box and £52 excl VAT for the upgrade, Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI is available immediately.
Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI is the only image-editing solution that meets the requirements of the entire spectrum of digital camera users. Easier to use and learn than comparable products, it allows novices to correct their photos with simple one-step fixes and generate impressive results immediately. In addition, it allows photo hobbyists to create dazzling photo projects and master the basics of image editing while easing into more advanced editing techniques as their skills progress. It also offers professional photographers a complete range of advanced image editing tools that give them unprecedented control as they edit their images - all at a much more affordable price than comparable products.
This release also offers several new features that are unique in the industry today including the Color Changer tool, the Time Machine and a built-in Photo Organizer. The new Color Changer allows users to realistically change the color of an object or an area in a photo - such as clothing, painted objects or carpets - with just a few easy clicks. The resulting color change is incredibly realistic and natural because the Color Changer tool detects and analyses variations in brightness caused by real-world illumination and then reapplies the illumination to the new color to produce a highly realistic effect. The Time Machine lets users see what their photos would look like if they were taken in another era - such as the Roaring 1920s or the Swinging 1960s, among others. It replicates the process by which photos were developed in various ages of photography to recreate a highly realistic look. In addition, the built-in Photo Organizer is a unique, customisable one-stop photo management center that locates photos within seconds. The Photo Organizer is built right into Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI which ensures a complete, seamless workflow experience while eliminating the need to switch between different applications for editing and organising.
“This new release builds on the great success of Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X which set the standard for ease of use and learning as well as discoverability of features. Based on user feedback, we’ve made major improvements to our award-winning integrated learning tools and photo adjustment features”, said Blaine Mathieu, General Manager of Corel’s Digital Imaging Business. “At the same time, we’ve added a dazzling array of new enhancement features such as the Color Changer and the Depth of Field Effect which lets users draw attention to a specific area of an image. And, were added a full range of graphics, photo projects and picture frames that allow users to engage in creative projects such as scrapbooking and photo restoration.”
Setting the Standard For Ease-Of-Use, Ease Of Learning and Discoverability Of Features
Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI allows users to reduce the time it takes to get impressive results through its highly intuitive Learning Center, a task-based menu that quickly allows novice users to become seasoned experts and experienced users to find key features quickly. Tools are intelligently organised by task within the Learning Center, enabling users of all skill levels to produce professional-looking results with no previous photo editing experience required. Ease-of-use is further enhanced through a series of one step photo fixes, which automatically adjust the color balance, contrast, clarity and saturation of an image. A Smart Photo Fix feature analyses a photo and suggests settings to auto-correct color, brightness, sharpness and saturation, all in one easy step while offering manual controls over specific picture adjustments for more advanced users.
Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI offers a number of new key features and major enhancements, including the following:
NEW Photo Organizer: The Organizer is a one-stop photo management center that takes the guesswork out of finding photos that are built right into Paint Shop Pro Photo XI. Users can save time by searching for images on their computer by filename, date, file type or folder location. The ability to assign keywords, ratings and other information to an image gives users even more ways to search for photos. The Organizer is customisable so users have several options that help integrate it into their workflow. In addition, metadata editing and the ability to view and extract frames from video files make the Organizer an essential, time-saving tool for hobbyists and professionals alike.
NEW Color Changer Tool: The Color Changer Tool lets users easily and realistically change colors in their digital images. Rather than simply replacing a color, the Color Changer Tool detects and analyses variations in brightness caused by real-world illumination and reapplies the illumination to the new color to create a realistic effect.
NEW Time Machine: A fun feature, the Time Machine lets users see what their photos would look like if they were taken in another era and processed using historical photo development processes from the 1830s to the 1980s.
NEW Film and Filters: Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI lets users apply effects to an image to make it look as if it was taken with a variety of traditional film and filter types without having to invest in additional camera accessories or additional plug-in filters.
NEW Skin Smoothing: An important new addition to the popular Makeover Tools, the Skin Smoothing feature lets users remove any wrinkles, blemishes or scars from the people in their photos.
NEW Quick Review: Slide shows are the best way to share photos, and the Quick Review feature allows users to manage their slide shows quickly and easily. Quick Review allows users to apply a quick fix to a slide, set a rating for a slide, add captions and rotate images in a slide show.
NEW Photo Trays: Photo Trays allow users to sort their photos, letting users group photos in batches for their convenience.
NEW Video File Compatibility: Users can now make the most of video clips by viewing them and extracting freeze-frames from the clip.
Enhanced Curves and Levels: The Curves and Levels dialog boxes give users exceptional control over some of the most critical image adjustments such as contrast, color and levels.
Enhanced Corel® Painter™ and Corel® Painter™ Essentials Compatibility: Corel Painter and Corel Painter Essentials compatibility allows users to open and save images as RIFF files to create a seamless workflow with the worlds most popular painting and illustration software.
Enhanced Crop Tool: The Crop Tool provides users with the ability to get the exact dimensions they want in a snap.
Enhanced RAW Camera Support: Users can open and edit RAW files from leading digital cameras.
Paint Shop Pro Photo XI also includes the new Corel® Snapfire™ Plus SE photo and video sharing software. Corel Snapfire Plus SE provides simple, yet powerful editing and creative tools that allow users to create and share striking multimedia slide shows called Snapfire Shows, as well as create personal photo projects like calendars, greeting cards, albums pages, certificates and more. Corel Snapfire Plus SE also includes a free 30 day preview of full Snapfire Plus features like PhotoSafe™ backup, simple video editing, more project creation options and enhanced Snapfire Show capabilities. Once the preview is over, users can continue using Corel Snapfire to share, enhance and organise digital photos and videos.
“With Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI, Corel is addressing the myriad users who need sophisticated image editing made absolutely simple,” said Alexis Gerard, principal analyst with Future Image and chair of the 6Sight™ Future of Imaging conference.
“The new Color Changer feature, for instance, will be extremely useful to a broad range of customers. Until now, comparable results were achievable only by graphics arts professionals, hobbyists, or others willing to invest in the necessary training. Corel has merged highly innovative digital image editing functionality that enables visual expression at a very high level, with a superior customer experience that guarantees ease-of-use and learning right out of the box.”

I need a serial number, as I managed to break my previous hard drive and now need to reinstall the Paint Shop Pro Photo XI thing on my new laptop. However I have thrown away teh box that I bought it in, therefore don't have the serial number that will allow me to complete the installation of the disk. I'm someone else who has had to re-install my Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo after a hard disk replacement on my PC and have been asked for a serial no. I have the box and everything but nothing that looks like a serial no. and which the installation software recognises. Has anyone got the answer to this problem? It's too late for me to phone their customer service people tonight but I plan to do so tomorrow when they open.

I have lost the serial number to be able to re-install PSP Photo X2. I went back to the retailer to get a duplicate receipt to send to Corel so they can provide a new serial number. I have the Disk and the box it came in but I can't find the serial number on the box. Does anyone know where the number shows on the box? It will take 6 to 8 weeks before the retailer can provide the duplicate receipt for proof of purchase so I'm hoping someone can tell me where to find the number on the box. I looked just above the bar code but that doesn't work.

If you can't afford it, do without it!
Stop leeching off honest people who pay for their software.

Well, I ordered Corel after the trial period. The trial crashed my computer, so I've purchased a new computer and am trying to install from the purchased disc (by me, myself and I) and for the life of me I cannot find a serial number. Obviously this is a common problem. I go on line and they want me to pay for an answer. Talk about money hungry, I am sending the program back. They can have their stupid disc and keep the numbers secret, I don't need them that bad. I will find another program to edit my pictures. I would not recommend this to anyone. I paid extra to have overnight delivery but did not get my purchase overnight...Go figure, this company is a big rip off in my opinion.

Well, I just posted yesterday about problems I've had with the trial download. I did purchase the software and after installing on my new computer that I had to purchase because this trial download locked up my other computer guess what, my new computer is corrupted now by this stupid software. I will not recommend Corel to anyone and am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I will be returning the purchase, but they will refund my money first. Why would they even think I'd want to keep their ***** product, it has cost me hundreds of dollars now, the purchase of a new computer plus the cost of their product that only corrupted my computer. How they stay in business I'll never know but I will surely let everyone I know NOT to buy this or download the trial.
Hey Corel are you reading this? I sure hope so because I am not a happy person at this time, you have cost me too much money to let this go and I will get my money back from you.
Anyone else reading this, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE TRIAL VERSION OR PURCHASE THIS, unless you have lots of money to burn.

It IS possible that some people actually lost their serial numbers. I BOUGHT the CD, but it has been over a year and I no longer have the receipt to prove that I bought it, thus disabling me from getting my code and installing the program on my laptop. I agree that it's a rip off. I'm not buying the program again for the same thing to happen.

If the Serial number isn't on the envelope the installation disc came in, then it's on a 4x4 white card with blue trim. If you lost that, and the receipt from purchase. You're SOL.
4:34 pm - Saturday, April 4, 2009
#54 kelly
I too have lost my serial number and of course I don't have the receipt either so we are SOL. I will not buy another Corel product though, when I have issues with the software I don't always have time to wait for them to answer my email and I am not paying money for a phone call for them to resolve a problem with their product. I also have a video editing and dvd program from Sony, and the serial numbers are published in the user guides, why can't Corel do the same thing, I guess that makes too much sense

I just got psppx2u for my birthday yesterday. I went to install it ( my computer meets or exceeds requirements) the C.D. Doesn't register that I put it in.. I have the box and SN number. It was on a sticker on the sleeve the disk came in. My mother got this off the internet I think it may have been a scam. It was in a sealed box but no authenticity card inside. I did register the SN number and it went through ok. So my question is.... Is there away to download the install software from the net on to another disk and use my SN number? I don't have internet on the computer I want the software on. So it has to be placed on a disk. Thank for reading this

What exactly is the download insurance? Most software I have purchased in the past was easy. If my computer crashes I go to the site, download the "trial" and then input my serial number that I purchased. Does PSP work differently?

I also lost my box and have the ####### CD in my hands. To those of you who are poking fun at people who want their code again and assuming that they're trying to scam Corel (which yeah, maybe some are), I think it's rude and uncalled for. I am sitting here with a new laptop of which has no editing program on it and i'm frustrated! I don't need your sarcasm and obnoxious comments, I came here for actual help.
For those of you who are in my position, it doesn't look like there's hope so I guess we'll just have to spend another $100 bucks on an electronic copy of it.

P.S.
Does each CD have a different code? How can I get the code that came with my CD? I can't remember if I registered...
If you are trying to get a code from someone else's purchase, it will not work. I'm pretty sure each one has a different code, in order to stop scamming. But I could be wrong...

I also had a crash and tried to reload Paint Shop Pro X, and no Serial #. However, I remembered registering it with Corel when I bought it. Go to http://www.corel.com, log into your account (if you set one up) and click on "View Your Products". There will be a list of everything you have purchased, including freeware, and your Serial Number(s) will be there. I just got done re-installing my ProX and it works great!

I think that Corel has among the worst customer service I have yet to experience. I tried reinstalling the legit copy of PSP 10 on my wife's computer after we reformatted the unit. My wife has a login with Corel. Okay and we have the key code for the program, however, when it came to activate it we have to call Corel as it would not activate online.
Here where I get pissed. We paid the $ for the program, had it running on the other hard disk. Okay reinstall, put in product key and then tried to activate. No dice.
Get to the point where we have to make a phone call to Corel to talk to one of their tech specialists during the week. I was put on freaking hold for 45 minutes. I just plain and simple don't have time to wait for nearly an hour on hold.
We've uninstalled it and will be buying something else. They can rot in hell. I will reconsider if Corel reads this and contact me with an apology.

Hi. I have a legit copy plus box of the PSP Ultimate Photo X2 that i bought about two years ago, and had it on my Vista desktop PC until recently when my desktop crashed. I just bought a new HP 4 processor laptop and want to install the program to this new computer that has Windows 7 on it. I just tried and when it asked me for the serial number, i put in the number on the box and it says 'please enter a valid number'. Is this program not compatible with Windows 7?? Can anyone help me, I'd appreciate it!
