The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) has announced four bursaries to help students and other photographers to realise projects across the still and moving image. These include the Joan Wakelin Bursary, the Short Film Award, the Postgraduate Bursary and two Environmental Awareness bursaries. Click through / read on for more information.

Let The RPS help you realise your photography project

Four funding opportunities available to support a photography project
Across still photography and moving image

Bath, 20 April 2015 – The Royal Photographic Society has announced four bursaries to help students and other photographers to realise projects across the still and moving image. Recipients can use the funding for any aspect including travel, equipment, website or mounting an exhibition. The bursaries consist of:

  • Environment Awareness, in partnership with The Photographic Angle
  • Postgraduate bursary for MA students studying photography
  • Joan Wakelin bursary for documentary photography, in partnership with The Guardian newspaper
  • Short Film Award, in partnership with Depict!

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS PROJECT FUNDING - £6,000

The RPS, in partnership with The Photographic Angle, is offering funding for two 1-year projects that will promote environmental awareness. The two awards are available for applicants aged between 16-30 and 31 years and over.

POSTGRADUATE BURSARY - £3,500

To support postgraduate students undertaking photographic research or studying Masters courses in Photography.

JOAN WAKELIN BURSARY - £2000

The Joan Wakelin Bursary offers funding and the chance to have work published in The Guardian and The RPS Journal. The Bursary is awarded to the photographer who presents the best proposal for a photographic essay on an overseas social documentary issue. Submission is open to all.

SHORT FILM AWARD - £2,000

The RPS is pleased to announce a new short film award and best cinematography award in partnership with Depict!
