Judging from color, edge detail and resolution, the Canon PowerShot Pro 1, seems to be vastly superior. This is particurarily true when looking at the corner area of window screen in the photo with the flowers. In addition, there is almost no noise in the shadow areas. These are incredible cameras. I would like to see a more detailed comparison of these cameras ( Canon Powershot Pro 1, Olympus Camedia C-8080, Nikon Coolpix 8700) with the addition of the Sony DSC-F828 and the Konica Minolta DiMAFGE A2. I would be helpful to have details of extremely enlarged center and corner areas so that they could all be compared on the same screen at the same time.

To my eyes, the Olympus pictures look the best.

I have carefully studied all samples photos available on the web including these ones. Canon seems to be slightly better than the competition. So I went to a shop and purchased one. It is really a very good camera with excelent and extremely sharp photos on low ISO settings, but has a small problem:
Focusing in low light situations is a big problem. This is especially notable when lens are at tele position. Maybe Canon has made a mistake by excluding ilumination light for low light situations.

Hi Emil,

Where did you buy the Pro1 and how much did it cost (if you don't mind me asking?

Do you have any sample photos that you can share with us?

I have purchased my Canon Pro1 in Slovenia and it was quite expensive (compared to expected US prices). The cost was 1214 EUR including 20% VAT. It is final production version with Slovenian instruction manual included.
Due to busy week my sample photos are onyle me, my wife and my son in an early morning or late evening stage. So, please forgive me for not sharing those photos. But on Monday you can get a selection of my weekend shooting.
To which e-mail shall I send them?
