DCViews Reviews Canon EOS 300D
DCViews have posted their review of the Canon EOS 300D / Digital Rebel, with a lot of sample photos to look at.
“Canon have done it again. After releasing the first of many IXUS/ELPH models a few years ago and improving them with each succeeding model, they then produced the EOS D30. A groundbreaking digital SLR, which was followed shortly after by the D60 and 10D, two digital SLRs that really showed the world what Canon was capable of. Now they have again astonished everyone, including the competition, by releasing a truly affordable consumer digital SLR camera. First impressions may deceive but if the camera’s good looks and advanced specifications are anything to go by, we are sure the 300D will be a winner from the start.”

Yet another glowing report for the 300D. Canon are clearly onto a winner now they can produce the 6 Mpixel CMOS sensor in volume and will be looking to use it across the range. I reckon the next camera we will see from Canon with this sensor will be the 'G6', maybe priced around £600, which will then dominate the mid range prosumer cameras. And then sometime later the IXUS 600, which will be a great replacement for my GR1! Will anyone be using film in 2 years time??

On a related topic, apparently Canon discontinued the EOS 10D today. A coworker of mine was writing up a special order for one when our boss came over and told him to scrap it, because there are no more available. Apparently there will be a replacement announced sometime this winter, probably at PMA. From the buzz I'm hearing, I suspect Nikon will have one or two new DSLRs ready to unveil at that time too. Me, I'm sticking with my Pentax. (:

Wow, that was quick. I wasn't expecting the D10 to be discontinued.. although sales for the DRebel are good.

I'll contact Canon UK and see what they have to say about this. It would be surprising as the 10D has been on the market for less than a year - it would make the D60 look long-lived!
