Digital Outback Photo Reviews Canon PowerShot Pro1
Digital Outback Photo have started reviewing the 8 megapixel Canon PowerShot Pro1, which was announced by Canon just before the start of the PMA 2004 trade show.
“We are not sure about the camera’s feedback on autofocus. There were situations where the autofocus seemed not to lock in. There is also a danger that you may push incidentally the button for manual focus with your thumb. This is not a good ergonomic solution. We found the feedback from the Sony F828 a lot better.”

I have now had about a week to play with the Powershot Pro1 at the shop I work at, and I have two words for you:
It sucks.
The focusing is slow, the electronic zoom is tediously slow, and the viewfinder is pretty low-res. The KonicaMinolta A2 blows the Canon Pro1 out the water completely. Even the A2's APO GT lens appears every bit as sharp as the Pro1's L lens, from the 12"x18" prints we've made (optical prints, not inkjet).
Sorry Canon, you lose this one.
