Oncore Designs have unveiled a new line of innovative lens hoods that work with the GoPro Hero3 and GoPro Hero 3+. Made with ABS plastic, the Eclipse Lens Hood is designed to fit securely over the lens of the GoPro Hero 3/3+ in medium and narrow settings. The range currently comprises two models: the Eclipse Lens Hood 1 (ELH1, $24.99) and the Eclipse Lens Hood 3+H (ELH3+H, $30.00). The ELH1 is designed to place directly onto the GoPro Hero 3 or 3+ lenses without a housing case. The ELH3+H attaches securely to GoPro 3+ Housing cases and includes a Velcro strap for additional security. Both lens hoods accept 37mm lens filters for added flexibility. The Eclipse Lens Hoods are currently being sold in all Southern California Samy’s Camera locations as well as Samy’s Camera’s online store.

Oncore Designs Launches Creative Tool for Lens Flare Reduction in Action Cameras: The Eclipse Lens Hood

New manufacturer venture Oncore Designs has unveiled a new line of innovative lens hoods that work with the GoPro Hero3 and GoPro Hero 3+.

Santa Ana, California – The days of creating DIY lens hoods for GoPro cameras are over thanks to Oncore Designs’ ECLIPSE LENS HOOD: the first of its kind lens hood designed to reduce lens flare and light glare for select GoPro cameras. By merging a creative idea with a common lens setback, the Eclipse Lens Hood brings an enhanced quality and professional feel to GoPro cameras.

The Eclipse Lens Hood was created in Q2 of 2014. The idea sparked when Oncore Designs was developing a way to reduce lens flare while experimenting with a DJI Phantom aerial copter. Oncore Designs founder Travis Ishida explained, “We researched every DIY method and tried everything to reduce lens flare. After trying most of these home methods, we decided to manufacture our own lens hood with our specific design—something we can count on to work every time. Thus, the Eclipse Lens Hood was born.”

With the help of the Eclipse Lens Hood, users are able to shoot footage while facing a light source as well as preventing light from coming into the lens at extreme angles. Made with ABS plastic, the Eclipse Lens Hood is designed to fit securely over the lens of the GoPro Hero 3/3+ in medium and narrow settings.

The Eclipse Lens Hood currently has two models: the Eclipse Lens Hood 1 (ELH1) and the Eclipse Lens Hood 3+H (ELH3+H). The ELH1 is designed to place directly onto the GoPro Hero 3 or 3+ lenses without a housing case and weighs approximately 8 grams. The ELH3+H attaches securely to GoPro 3+ Housing cases and includes a Velcro strap for additional security. Both lens hoods accept 37mm lens filters for added flexibility.

Oncore Designs is a manufacturing venture based in Orange County, California with the intent to produce unique products with the inspiration of creative ideas. The Oncore Designs team has years of experience in video media and understands the need to have lens hood technology not only for bigger, professional equipment, but for smaller, professional cameras as well—such as the GoPro. Oncore Designs plans to launch 3 new Eclipse Lens Hood models before the end of 2014. The new models will offer different types of material for functionality while still serving to reduce lens flare.
