Elinchrom has announced a new Quadra flash head for the ELB 400 and all previous generations of Quadra packs, featuring a new Hi-Sync mode. The Quadra HS Head is a powerful, full-functioning minaturised flash head weighing only 0.28kg and integrating a daylight balanced LED modelling lamp that produces the equivalent of 50W of Tungsten light output. The HS designation denotes the unit's compatibility with High-Sync flash photography, especially in combination with the also-new EL-Skyport Transmitter Plus HS radio trigger. When used with the ELB400 battery pack (also pictured above), the Elinchrom Quadra HS can output a maximum of 424Ws of power for a guide number of 90 (in metres at ISO100/21°, with a 48° reflector fitted). Pricing for the new Elinchrom flash head has yet to be communicated.

Quadra HS Head

Elinchrom announces a new Quadra flash head for the ELB 400 and Quadra series, dedicated to Hi-Sync photography. The Quadra HS Head is a powerful, full-functioning miniaturized flash head which is compatible with the ELB 400 and all previous generations of Quadra packs. Built to be as portable as possible and weighing only 0.28 kg (0.62 lbs.), this head not only packs well but it is mountable in situations that would be impossible for a full-sized flash head.

The HS designation denotes the system’s optimized head for Hi-Sync photography such as high shutter speeds or overpowering the sun and limits to a minimum the gradient effect. It is ideal to use in conjunction with the new EL-Skyport transmitter Plus HS.

The Quadra HS head also integrates a daylight balanced LED modelling lamp that produces the equivalent of 50W of tungsten light output.

There exist many portable accessories dedicated to the Quadra mount but Elinchrom also offers the Quadra reflector adapter for those who want full access to the complete range of Elinchrom accessories, including Rotalux, Litemotiv, etc. The head includes an interchangeable 2.5 m head cable, the Quadra reflector 13.5 cm with multifunction cap and a Quadra protective cap.

The new flash head can be purchased either as a single item or in a set with the widely acclaimed ELB 400.
