Flextronics, Lite-on and Altek Bid for HP Cameras

Mark Goldstein | Digital Compact Cameras | March 4, 2008 | 1 Comments

HPHP have reportedly narrowed down the choice of who will manufacture their next-generation of digital cameras to three companies. The website EMSNow say that Flextronics, Lite-on and Altek have made it through to the second round of negotiations, with a decision being made in the second quarter of this year. Interestingly Flextronics already make cameras for Kodak, Altek is a long-standing camera partner of HPs, and Lite-On have no history whatsoever of digital camera manufacture.

The problem I have found with HP cameras ithe inconsistency. I have owned three HP cameras; two that I purchased and one as a gift. I recieved an HP Photosmart M150 as a gift and I loved it.For it's level, it was an easy to use, yet powerful camera.I purchased the M425 for y daughter and many of the controls are inconsistent. The buttons are in obscure, unexpected positions and the photo quality was moderate.
Perhaps maintaining a singular manufacturer would make a difference.
