Fujifilm A900 Review at CNET

Mark Goldstein | Digital Compact Cameras | September 25, 2007 | 1 Comments

Fujifilm A900CNET have reviewed the Fujifilm A900, which offers 9 megapixels, a 4x optical zoom lens and ISO 800.

“Without a doubt, the Fujifilm FinePix A900 is one of the weirdest little cameras I’ve ever reviewed. On the surface it seems like an ordinary budget point-and-shoot camera, but underneath it packs a strange mish-mash of features and design quirks. Nearly everything about it, from its 9-megapixel resolution to its bizarre jog dial, simply feels…off.”

I work at a nursery and our Head Office has recently got one of these for our nursery.

And I must say it produces some of the worst pictures I have every seen from a modern digital camera. Despite the 9MP sensor the pictures seem to lack any real texture and often come out looking a bit bland.

Fuji cameras are meant to have really good dynamic range but on this one the highlights blow out way too easily and the shadows are all-consuming.

I know this camera is cheap, but even my six-year-old 2MP Sony (a DSC-P51) can do better than this. I usually buy more up-market cameras (I have a Sony T200 and a Canon EOS 400D) but after this experience with a budget camera(it goes for around £70 to £80), my advice is never spend more than around £130-£150 on a new digital camera.

Sorry Fuji, you've made some nice cameras but this one is just plain rubbish.
