Fujifilm Press Release
FUJIFILM X-Pro1 and FUJIFILM X-S1 digital cameras win at the 2012 TIPA Awards
FUJIFILM is delighted to announce that the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 premium interchangeable lens camera and FUJIFILM X-S1 premium long-zoom digital camera have both won awards from the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA)1, widely recognised as the most coveted photo and imaging awards worldwide in the following categories.
1. TIPA Best Compact System Camera Professional Award - Premium interchangeable lens camera FUJIFILM X-Pro1
The FUJIFILM X-Pro1 is a premium interchangeable lens camera, developed with thorough dedication to delivering premium image quality and elegant design. It has won the award in recognition of its Hybrid Multi Viewfinder, which allows users to freely switch between the optical viewfinder (OVF) and electronic viewfinder (EVF), and automatically selects the OVF magnification and frame size according to the focal length of the attached lens (for wide-angle and standard focal lengths). The recognition is also given to the 16.3-megapixel APS-C “X-Trans CMOS” sensor, which uses a colour filter array with enhanced aperiodicity to control moire and false colour generation without requiring a low-pass filter, thereby achieving very high image quality.
2. TIPA Best Superzoom Camera Award - Premium long-zoom digital camera FUJIFILM X-S1
FUJIFILM X-S1 is a long-zoom digital camera that covers a wide focal range from super-macro with the minimum working distance of 1cm to super-telephoto, without having to change lenses. It has won the award in recognition of its capability to achieve premium image quality throughout its focal range from wide at 24mm to super-telephoto at 624mm2 due to the combination of Fujinon 26x optical manual zoom lens (with Intelligent Digital Zoom capability) and the 2/3-inch 12-megapixel EXR-CMOS sensor. The award also recognised other features such as its manual operations that evoke the joy of photography, the in-camera RAW processing function and the full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) movie recording function.
1 TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) is one of the most powerful and influential photographic industry organisations in the world with membership from 29 photo and imaging magazines in 13 countries in Europe, North America, and South Africa. Every year, it reviews image-related products released in Europe and awards the best product in each category.
