gav_daviesIn a brand new series, we cast the spotlight on members of the PhotographyBLOG Gallery and ask them about their photography. The eighth member to sit in the interview chair is gav_davies.

“Without having had any training in photography, the only way I’ve found to improve is by submitting my photos to galleries such as this and getting constructive feedback from other people. I like the fact that you can upload a photo, and get different peoples perspective on your photos that you may not have thought about.”

Congratulations to Gav on becoming 'the eighth'! Gav is certainly one of the most accomplished of the regular photographers here, and has one of the best developed 'signature' styles. I would highly recommend that anyone reading this does visit his website (and mine! haha) as it showcases some really lovely shots. Right, that's enough sycophancy for now! ;) Well done Gav! Stewart

Most of your photograph's are predictable and boring...try exploring the natural approach? Smokey water??? silky water??? duhhhh....it's been done done a million times. Go out on a limb and be different???

Thanks for the comments. Nobuo - you obviously prefer the more natural type of shot, and I respect that, but "predictable" and "boring"!!! A little harsh? I agree that there is a time and place for more natural shots, but then again I'm open to different areas of photography instead of being narrow minded and insulting.

And in regards to smokey water, are you expecting a quick shutter speed at 5:00 in the morning before the sun has even risen? Granted I could have increased the ISO to 800/1600, and decreased the Aperture to 2.8, but I don't think this would have helped in either capturing the shots I wanted or with the picture quality.
