GE J1050 & GE J1250
General Imaging has announced two new digital cameras, the GE J1050 and the J1250 (pictured). Shared features include Pan-Capture Panorama; Auto Scene Detection; Blink, Smile and Face Detection; Image Stabilisation and in-camera Red-Eye Removal. Out of these, Pan-Capture Panorama is the most interesting, which allows the creation of seamless panoramic photographs without a need for stitching. Also, both cameras have a 35-175mm equivalent zoom lens and a 2.7”; 230,400-dot TFT LCD. They practically only differ in their pixel count and price: the GE J1050 is a ten-megapixel model costing $129, whereas the GE J1250 is a twelve-megapixel camera that sells for $149.

The GE J1050 is the WORST camera I have ever purchased! I would NOT recommend it to anyone. The pictures in action mode are ALWAYS so blurry and distorted that you can't even make out the object you just took a picture of. The color is off when you take a still picture. I was expecting good things, but this camera had really been a disappointment. I am ready to throw it in the trash can. I am going to see if walamart will either take it back or credit me so that I can purchase a different brand. Maybe I am the only one, but this has been a BAD experience for me. I HATE this camera!

In your quick starter guide-Step 5 - the top dial(wheel) is set to auto. In step 6 you indicate the manual focus. This surely garbles the software. This happened to myself-everything froze. I took out the battery and reinstalled it again-thankfully everything came back. This could confuse. Maybe you could state that the wheel should be on MANUAL focus in step 6. It could have helped me !!!!!

Walmart did issue me a credit on the POS I had, and I upgraded to a Kodak Easy Share. It was TOTALLY worth the extra $100! I couldn't decide between that, and the canon. anything had to be better than the GE

RIPPED OFF AND BEAT DOWN!!!!
I bought the GE J1050 yes, on sale and thought it would at least do the job of my Kodak 3mp camera I have had for several years. But to my suprise I found out the hard way that it only takes 3 picture at the 5x power! I called to find out why after I looked for any indacation that this camera was that limited but was argued with by the CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON as he would not let me get a work in edge wise telling me I should have researched it BEFORE I BOUGHT IT! well good bye GE I will always look for other brands before I buy anything again!
