With the new collection Gitzo introduces a High Performance basalt fibre tube, created from a radical innovation of the aerospace technology used to manufacture its composite tubes, starting from the raw fibres. Manfrotto Distribution UK Launches the new Gitzo Basalt Collection – innovative and elegant solutions for all photographers

April 2010: Gitzo is pleased to announce that its new Basalt Collection of tripods, heads, monopod and microphone boom is now available in the UK. The new collection offers three tripod sizes, all in standard and compact height, three heads, plus a monopod and a microphone boom, both in a convenient, six section, compact size. All models have a sleek design whilst having a distinctive new look of black with flame orange detailing.

With the new collection Gitzo introduces a High Performance basalt fibre tube, created from a radical innovation of the aerospace technology used to manufacture its composite tubes, starting from the raw fibres. The new technology boosts a higher level of resin into the raw basalt fibres to increase the tube performance by up to 22 per cent depending on the tube diameter. The new high performance basalt tubes are 20 per cent lighter than aluminum and offer intermediate performance between aluminum and carbon 6X tubing.

The new tripod models provide excellent maximum load capacity and torsional rigidity. Each comes with features found on Gitzo’s top of the range 6X Series including G-Lock, ALR, Ground Level Set, third ground level leg spread and self locking feet. Series 2 and 3 also feature the Power Disc.

Series 1 tripods (GT1840C, 4 section and GT1830, 3 section)
The best choice for MiniDV, compact digital cameras and DSLRs with 135mm to 200mm lenses. The GT1840C is a compact, basalt fibre tube only version, ideal for cabin luggage and backpack storage.

Series 2 tripods (GT2840C, 4 section and GT2830, 3 section)
The best choice for lightweight camcorders or DSLRs with lenses up to 300mm. This series features an excellent load capacity and is ideal for photographers that are searching for a solid tripod without sacrificing weight.
The Series 2 tripods also feature the new Power Disc for an even safer head lock.

Series 3 tripods (GT3840C, 4 section and GT3830, 3 section)
The best choice for the professional with DSLR or Medium Format camera with a 300mm lens up to 400mm maximum.  Series 3 tripods are still light in weight and offer great stability and safety.  The GT3840C is a compact version that is ideal for traveling.

Gitzo Basalt Collection Heads

Series 1 GH1781QR, Series 2 GH2781QR, Series 3 GH3781QR

The new Basalt Collection tripods from Gitzo are perfectly matched by a new version of the Gitzo center ball heads.  Series 1, 2 and 3 quick release heads are now available in the new black and flame orange colour scheme.

The heads not only offer outstanding innovation, they offer extreme balance for high maximum loads.  Other features include minimized drift angle, smoothness, low gravity center, compactness, ergonmics and of course safety.

Gitzo’s unique hollow Bubble Ball and the Spring Assisted Double Lock (SADL) is combined with an ultra light magnesium outer shell which provides impressive low weight and which provides these heads with the best weight to maximum load ratio in the market today.

The revolutionary SADL lock combined with the Bubble Ball guarantees both exceptional locking power and ultra smooth high precision movement.  The new leveling system is made of three independent leveling bubbles on the quick release plate and one in the ball stem which allow for perfectly leveled images at all times.

The new Gitzo ball heads all include a convenient Anti Dust Bag for storage and packing.
