The Guild of Photographers (GoP) - the fastest-growing photographic association in the UK - has announced the recipients of its Photographer of the Year awards. Tracy Willis has been awarded the Guild’s overall ‘Photographer of the Year’ 2012 title in addition to winning the ‘Photographer of the Year’ in the ‘People’ category. The ‘Wedding’ category winner is Beverley Foster, while Mark Tomlinson has been declared the best photographer in the ‘Open’ category. The Guild’s ‘All-Round Photographer of the Year’ title (ie the person with the highest combined score from any two categories) was won by Charlotte Bellamy.
Many associations base their ‘Photographer Of The Year’ awards on the judging of one image.
The Guild of Photographers does things differently! The title chase is particularly demanding as images are judged each month throughout the year, and thousands of images are entered, so the winners have to produce images of a consistently high standard literally month after month in order to win!!
With this in mind, the Guild was very proud to announce its winners at a lavish presentation in Staffordshire this week, with members flying from across Europe to attend –
Tracy Willis won the Guild’s overall ‘Photographer of the Year’ 2012 title as well as being their ‘Photographer of the Year’ in the ‘People’ category. Vitty Robinson was the runner-up in the ‘People’ category.
Beverley Foster won the ‘Photographer of the Year’ title in the ‘Wedding’ category and Andy Robinson was the runner-up.
Mark Tomlinson won the ‘Photographer of the Year’ title in the ‘Open’ category and Graham Jeremiah Jones was the runner-up.
Our ‘All-Round Photographer of the Year’ title (ie the person with the highest combined score from any two categories) was won by Charlotte Bellamy and the runner-up was Belinda James.
Guild Director Steve Thirsk said - ‘The winners have done incredibly well! I don’t know of a more demanding competition process anywhere. To come out on top after being assessed by a highly acclaimed judging panel over a 12 month period is quite remarkable.’
The competition was sponsored by InFocus insurance and One Vision Imaging.
The Guild is 25 years old this year and is the fastest growing photographic association in the UK with a reputation for being the friendliest, and the most forward thinking!
